Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Production Finance Executive to lead the team and oversee the slate of Netflix's Nonfiction productions based out of the UK including Unscripted, Live, Sports and Documentary programming. This is a permanent full-time position which will report to the Director, Production Finance, UK and is a senior member of the UK Production Finance Team.

This is a demanding and fast-moving position that requires someone who is a proactive and positive thinker, and able to exercise good judgement and initiative. The successful candidate will be a TV production finance expert with UK Nonfiction experience, who is quick-thinking, able to pivot when necessary, thorough, can juggle multiple priorities and collaborate well with a large number of experienced and seasoned senior stakeholders.

In addition to leading the Nonfiction pod you will be instrumental in creating and implementing the goals of the UK Production Finance team. The goals include i) providing accurate, timely and complete production budgets and estimated final costs ii) protecting company assets through cash management, policies and procedures and iii) providing shows with the production finance support to facilitate producing great content.  

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with other Netflix Executives to oversee our 3rd party production services companies, producers, and accountants

  • Work closely and collaboratively with different Netflix department teams like Creative, Production, Legal, Post Production & Production Tax 

  • Line Management of Nonfiction Production Finance Managers and Associates, supporting them day to day and in their growth & development

  • Communicate effectively with a range of Production Services companies with different areas of expertise in the UK

  • Research, develop and test new technologies that provide the next generation of production finance tools and determine how and when to best incorporate them into the production accounting workflow

  • Liaise with Netflix HR, Labor Relations, Content Accounting, Internal Audit, Payroll, Accounts Payable, Treasury and IT to ensure production finance policies and procedures are current and effectively implemented on our productions

  • Work closely with Production Management leadership to provide key analysis of costs and trends to inform Creative leadership decisions.

  • Budget review, commentary, comparisons, and analysis. Manage the budget lock and tracking process. Analyze and track overages.

  • Work with Production Service Companies and show accountants on a day-to-day basis to drive accurate, complete and timely cost reporting  protecting and managing show assets and supporting production.

  • Review and analysis of cost reports submitted by production companies.

  • Ensure compliance with UK tax legislation, including IR35, liaising with Production Tax as required

  • Oversee production insurance claims in partnership with Netflix Insurance

  • Identify problem areas as quickly as possible and communicate with key cross-functional partners accordingly.

  • Oversee the cash flow and funding processes, track and ensure receipt of tax incentives.

  • Ensure production information is accurately recorded in Netflix systems.

  • Develop relationships with Commissioners, audit firms, Accountants, Producers and Payroll Companies to build resources and networks from which to poll industry information and help ensure all production finance processes are current, reasonable and timely.

  • Keep abreast of current and changing industry trends, evolving technologies, production incentives and changes in crew capacity and infrastructure support in the main worldwide production centres.

Requirements:

  • Production Finance professional with UK Nonfiction experience

  • Experience working on live TV shows 

  • Must thrive in a fast-paced and challenging environment.

  • Broad understanding of production incentives.

  • Solid understanding of payroll process, agreements and tax requirements.

  • Expert skill level of Budgeting and production accounting systems.

  • Proficiency in Google Suite

  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to lead and manage a team.

  • Ability to understand and articulate issues using creative, production or financial context.

  • High aptitude and enthusiasm for complex problem solving and analysis utilizing financial applications.

  • Must exhibit the highest personal and professional standards of integrity and ethics.

  • Self-motivated, curious, disciplined, highly organized and able to prioritize multiple tasks

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
