The Opportunity

Content Infrastructure and Solutions (CIS) supports this mission by providing scalable, reliable infrastructure and solutions for engineering teams working on complex media processing and content creation workflows. As part of the engineering organization that supports our global content strategy, we help optimize the use of our multi-billion dollar content budget. A main area of focus is maximizing engineering cycles devoted to delivering business value. To that end, we  are establishing a new team with the following goals: 

  • Maximize business value by reducing engineering toil

  • Improve application quality while decreasing cognitive load

  • Accelerate innovation by removing operational drag

We are seeking an engineering manager to translate our high level vision into a coherent technical strategy. You will build, lead and inspire a team to execute on this strategy, leveraging Netflix’s strong library of infrastructure and developer tooling and innovating as needed. You will gain a deep exposure to the complex and exciting world of content creation and promotion, influence the way in which we build and operate our systems and be rigorous about delivering business value.

Your role

  • Scale, lead and inspire a team of software engineers to deliver high impact results.  

  • Ensure stakeholder success  with empathy and effective communication.

  • Work across organizational boundaries, balancing competing priorities.

  • Drive the team’s roadmap by aligning work with business priorities and quantifiable results.

  • Make thoughtful decisions in complex, ambiguous situations.

  • Take thoughtful,  informed risks -  make strategic bets while driving tactical execution

  • A strong product mindset; understanding the tradeoffs between critical business needs and strong engineering principles

What we are looking for

  • Experience developing core infrastructure products and services, both frontend and backend. 

  • Strong technical acumen and ability to act as a credible technical advisor to the team.

  • Proven track record in building and operating platforms with an emphasis on developer experience 

  • Strong product management skills and people leadership experience

  • Proven ability to cultivate a robust, inclusive team culture, hire and grow diverse, highly talented engineers

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $190,000 - $920,000.

Netflix provides comprehensive benefits including Health Plans, Mental Health support, a 401(k) Retirement Plan with employer match, Stock Option Program, Disability Programs, Health Savings and Flexible Spending Accounts, Family-forming benefits, and Life and Serious Injury Benefits. We also offer paid leave of absence programs. Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
