Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer passionate about quality to join our TV Release Quality team. This team is dedicated to assessing and communicating the quality of our TV streaming application, both pre- and post-production. We focus on innovating and enhancing our TVUI release process, test automation framework, metrics, observability, and alerting. Additionally, the team manages the TVUI on-call and release process, ensuring updates for millions of TV devices worldwide.

  • Innovate and Collaborate: Work alongside our talented TVUI colleagues to identify and develop innovative solutions that enhance our understanding of the quality of the TVUI streaming application, which serves hundreds of millions of members worldwide. Collaborate effectively, build alignment, and foster strong relationships with engineers and leaders across multiple teams.

  • Hands-on Development: Enhance our TVUI on-call and release tooling and signals by improving observability, alerting, dashboarding, and tools to effectively communicate our product's quality story. Strengthen the foundations and signals of our TVUI test automation while working within the unique constraints and capabilities of our custom TV platform space.

  • Create Impactful Tools: Develop tools and products that increase TVUI engineer productivity in testing, building, and releasing TVUI code. 

  • Continuous Learning: Regularly learning new systems and tools as the Netflix ecosystem continues to evolve

What sets you apart

  • You are proficient in designing and implementing UI and system designs for dashboards and metrics, tailored for multi-platform teams. Experienced in canaries, A/B test launches, and ensuring production-scaling release observability.

  • You are passionate about empowering engineers and understanding their use cases and barriers to their productivity. 

  • You are an accomplished full-stack developer adept at navigating and working across all layers of a complex technology stack, similar to those found in a TV stack.

  • Proficient in JavaScript/TypeScript and NodeJS is required, along with expertise in working with large data sets to extract patterns and make informed decisions. 

  • Your expertise includes building observability tools, tracking business-critical release metrics, and developing internal tools to enhance developer experience and productivity.

  • Skilled in working with orchestration tooling and automation platforms, with a proven track record of establishing and maintaining continuous delivery workflows.

  • You excel in troubleshooting complex web automated testing failures using both industry-standard and in-house tools, and you work directly with developers to quickly triage issues. 

  • Experience collaborating with backend partners to troubleshoot dependency failures and improve E2E testing reliability is essential.

  • A tester mindset, marked by curiosity and creativity in crafting test solutions, is crucial. You have experience defining release, regression, and smoke testing strategies for large applications developed across multiple teams.

  • You possess excellent debugging skills for diagnosing issues in a multi-tier web architecture and work closely with cross-functional partners to communicate impact and understand business requirements.

Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top-of-market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is 100,000 - $720,000.

We also offer paid leave of absence programs.  Full-time hourly employees accrue 35 days annually for paid time off to be used for vacation, holidays, and sick paid time off.
