Software Engineers at Uber have an impact across a variety of business and technology decisions spanning projects and locations. We are passionate and pragmatic technologists who are able to design scalable systems while deliver efficient code. We are humble teachers, technically mentoring a team of talented engineers while also executing on delivering uniquely ambitious projects! As a Software Engineer on the Engineering team in Brazil, you will be an member of Uber's development center in LATAM, developing products across Uber and all around the World.
We have open positions in many teams within different structures. Take a look at a quick description about each one of them:
**\- Device** team at Uber, you will play a key role in developing Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions that drive Uber's global ecosystem of partners and devices.In this role, you will work closely with Engineering Managers, Product Managers, and cross-functional teams to design and implement scalable, secure, and high-performance systems. You'll contribute to building next-generation Identity platforms that support various devices such as Autonomous Vehicles (AVs), Ads systems, and Merchant Tablets managed by Uber.
## **\- Trusted Identity team** is responsible for all active and passive Identity verifications done at Uber. Using different sources of truth as Liveness, Selfie, Document (Passport, Drivers License, National ID) and several third party solutions that provides us different ways to assure Identity from a person. We are a multidisciplinar team with Web, Mobile, Machine Learning and Backend Engineers, expanding our platform to aggregate more features, reduce friction from real users and creating more defenses against fraudsters. Our responsibility starts in the very beginning of the user journey collecting information from different sources, capturing the image of document, comparing these images to different data sources or human review and making the decision. We operate globally, across different roles riders, drivers, restaurants, freight companies, for example.
## **\- Session Management team** (The CIP team) develops Identity SaaS which includes sign-up, login, and identity management solutions which are used by Uber and its partners. Our services are highly scalable and serve up to 1M requests/sec. We support various identity use cases which span Uber's mobile and web applications, Uber acquisitions, Uber services offered through 3rd party applications as well as enabling our external partners to seamlessly offer their services within Uber apps. Session Management team plays an important role in this landscape taking care of the session context, enhance security, scalability and reliability of post-authentication and session management systems, while reducing user friction with session continuation solutions. Contributes to the build and maintenance of backend services and solutions to support user-facing products, downstream services, or infrastructure tools and platforms used across Uber leveraging the support and guidance of others on the team.
**What you will do:**
- Writes high-quality code (i.e., reliable, readable, efficient, testable), provides quality code reviews, and creates comprehensive tests and quality documentation using software engineering principles.
- Participates in on-call rotations and follows best practices to troubleshoot production incidents with some guidance.
- Monitors product quality in the production environment, identifying, triaging and fixing bugs and inefficiencies.
## **Basic qualifications:**
- Knowledge of data structures, algorithms, programming and associated programming languages and frameworks. (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python or Golang)
- Advanced English.
- Recent bachelor graduate in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field concluded from Fev/2024 to June/2025.
**Preferred qualifications:**
- Software engineering experience gained through work, education, coursework, training, research or similar in any area.
- Demonstrates the ability to understand and translate requirements to system design.
