About Bitvavo

In 2018, Bitvavo launched the first version of its digital assets trading platform, to bridge the gap between traditional currencies and digital assets. By offering transparent fees, a wide range of assets and an easy to use platform, Bitvavo is making the currency of the future accessible for everyone.

In two years' time, Bitvavo has established itself as the market leader in the Netherlands and one of the largest in Europe, with over one million users exchanging tens of billions of digital assets a year.

Our team, located in Amsterdam, is looking for self-driven, talented people who can help make digital assets available for everyone.

At Bitvavo, we’re growing our Financial Crime department and looking for an experienced Quality Checker to join our close-knit, collaborative Financial Crime team.

In this role, your number one priority is to uphold and elevate Bitvavo’s high-quality standards in the work of our Financial Crime Officers. You’ll use your expertise not just to assess reports, but also to coach and uplift team members, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement. You’ll be a key part of our team, reporting to the Team Lead Financial Crime and helping us mature and scale with integrity.

How will you make an impact?

Your primary objective is to ensure Bitvavo operates within the risk appetite defined by the Management Board. You’ll act as a second pair of eyes on investigations, providing critical analysis of reports with a focus on adherence to regulatory requirements and maintaining high quality standards,  ensuring both compliance and team growth.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and upholding the quality of investigations to safeguard against fraud, money laundering, terrorism financing, and sanctions evasion, supporting trust in Bitvavo's platform and reputation
  • Coaching Financial Crime Officers, helping them grow through constructive feedback, quality improvement, and ensuring consistency across the team
  • Producing insights and reporting that inform trends and support data-driven risk decisions
  • Collaborating with team members to develop and refine best practices, policies, and procedures, while staying aligned with regulatory developments
  • Driving continuous improvement by proactively suggesting and implementing initiatives that enhance the quality and efficiency of our internal processes
  • Contributing to broader projects beyond quality checking, bringing flexibility and a forward-thinking mindset to the team

How will you be successful?

  • Proven experience as a Quality Checker or similar role, within Financial Crime or AML domains
  • Strong background in AML, CTF, and KYC, with an understanding of operational risk in the financial or fintech industry
  • A coaching mindset with the patience and care to support others’ growth, and the ability to give and receive feedback constructively
  • A collaborative nature, with the ability to think proactively, take initiative, and take ownership of your work from start to finish
  • A keen sense for improvement, always looking for ways to streamline and automate where possible
  • Comfort working in a dynamic, fast-growing environment that is constantly changing, while remaining grounded and team-oriented
  • Fluency in both Dutch and English, spoken and written

Nice to haves:

  • Familiarity with the crypto industry
  • Experience working in a scale-up or rapidly evolving environment

At Bitvavo, we value diverse backgrounds and perspectives. We actively welcome people of all identities, experiences, and communities to join our team. We are committed to fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels respected, empowered, and able to thrive.
