**About the Role**
The Safety & Insurance Litigation team oversees and manages litigation and claims across the U.S. & Canada arising out of Uber's insurance policies. In doing so, the team works hand-in-hand with our insurance partners and outside counsel to drive innovation and solutions. The team also works closely with Uber's business teams, from operations to safety, to evaluate and manage risk. The team is currently searching for a Safety & Insurance Litigation Paralegal to provide crucial support to in-house attorneys handling general liability and other special matters. This role will be based at Uber’s offices in Chicago, Illinois.
**What You’ll Do**
- Prioritize and manage a caseload consisting of general liability and special matters to assist in all phases of the tort litigation lifecycle, including discovery, motion practice and trial/alternative dispute resolution in the US & Canada
- Maintain and oversee case handling processes and procedures
- Consult and assist attorneys on specific case needs, particularly related to claims and litigation
- Review, categorize, organize, track and maintain information and legal documents within our matter management system
- Analyze, issue spot and escalate inquiries and issues
- Perform research, fact investigation and preservation functions
- Support team projects and initiatives
- Perform and analyze complex data analytics in a time-sensitive and confidential nature
- Respond directly to requests from outside counsel, insurers and other stakeholders
- Design, build and deliver engaging presentations for internal and external audiences
**Basic Qualifications**
- 4+ years of paralegal experience
- B.A./B.S. Degree required
- Technical know-how with at least an intermediate level of computer skills, including a working knowledge of Google suite, Excel, Word, Adobe, and other web-based applications
**Preferred Qualifications**
- Paralegal experience in either a defense firm or insurance company highly preferred
- Paralegal certificate preferred (or as required by local rules)
- Experience working in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment while handling a high volume caseload
- Flexibility and willingness to help out wherever needed
- E-Discovery and mass document production experience
- Salesforce or other CRM/database experience
- Data querying and SQL skills
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- Self-motivation and the ability to work both on a team and independently
- Passion for the work and a growth mindset
- Flexibility and willingness to help out wherever needed

For Chicago, IL-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$85,000 per year - USD$94,500 per year.
