Are you? **About the Role** As the General Manager for Uber Eats in Sub-Saharan Africa, you will have the unique opportunity to shape and scale our food delivery platform in one of Uber’s most high-impact and fast-growing regions. Leading markets like South Africa and Kenya, you will play a central role in driving growth, innovation, and operational excellence in an exciting and rapidly evolving landscape. This unique blend of analytical precision and creative vision makes the Uber Eats General Manager role both a rare challenge and an extraordinary opportunity—one where the impact you drive on our people and business will be truly transformative. **What You’ll Do** - With your cross-functional leadership team, define a compelling vision for the Eats SSA business and inspire the team to execute this vision. - Strategic thinking and planning with key stakeholders, formed by tying global priorities to local insights and innovation. - Careful financial planning and resource allocation (dollars, time, and people), including continued investment decisions as conditions change. - Following your vision, strategy, and investment decisions to deliver results for the South Africa & Kenya market, including financial performance to plan, sustainable competitive advantage, and team engagement. - Scale Uber Eats to other cities within South Africa and Kenya. - Negotiating, renewing, and supporting our largest Enterprise partnerships alongside the Enterprise Sales team — think global restaurant chains, major supermarkets, retailers, and other well-known food and FMCG brands. - Representing our brand and business in the media, at external events, and in front of politicians and policymakers. **Who You Are** - 10+ years of work experience, including time spent in strategic and operational roles, supported by a history of delivering clear results - Strong track record of building, leading, and engaging diverse teams - Evidence of successful complex stakeholder management across a variety of functions; bonus points for across international borders - An appetite for taking smart risks in a fast-moving, competitive, and often ambiguous environment - Bonus points for: Managing a sizeable P&L, managing large teams, customer engagement at senior levels, and experience representing your brand/market externally **To Succeed You’ll Need to Be:** - A passion for excellence with the ability to inspire others to the highest standards through leading by example - A passion to positively contribute to our communities and SSA’s F&B industry - Committed to attracting and retaining the brightest minds from all backgrounds while cultivating the power of a diverse organization. - Inspires teams to accomplish goals and objectives; responds quickly to complex situations to problem-solve, including any country crisis situations, while effectively working across the organization - A strategic forward-thinker with a participatory management style and team-building skills - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to influence decision-making without having formal authority.
