**About the Role**
The Global Intelligence team works to understand the strategy and performance of Uber and other companies with similar products through a combination of external and internal data. Uber operates in a diverse array of markets and product categories filled with rapidly evolving competing options; assessing the success or failure of a product or strategy depends on understanding this context. Doing this, and doing it well, is an interesting and challenging problem. The team uses its data analysis, statistical modeling, economics, and business expertise to build scalable data products.
We are looking for experienced candidates passionate about solving new and difficult problems with data. You will build out and own competitive metrics, provide key insights, conduct deep dive analysis to understand new opportunities and empower teams to make more informed business and strategy decisions with competitive intelligence.
**What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points**

1. Use data to understand competitors’ performance and to identify improvement opportunities.
2. Present findings to senior management to inform business decisions.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams across disciplines such as product, engineering, and operations to drive competitor intelligence development.
\-\-\-\- Basic Qualifications ----
1. Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in Math, Economics, Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, or other quantitative fields.
2. Minimum 2 years of industry experience as a Data Scientist or equivalent.
3. Experience in experimental design and analysis, exploratory data analysis and statistical analysis
4. Experience with dashboard/data visualization toolings
5. Ability to use Python to work efficiently at scale with large data sets.
6. Proficiency in SQL
\-\-\-\- Preferred Qualifications ----
01. 4+ years of industry experience as a data scientist or similar
02. Experience in competitive intelligence.
03. Advanced knowledge of statistical methods, and causal inference.
04. Strong verbal and written communication, and presentation skills
05. To be highly detailed-oriented.
06. Excellent judgment, critical-thinking, and decision-making skills.
07. Ability to translate data science findings into business strategy
08. Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
09. Ability to work closely with cross-functional stakeholders to execute decisions.
10. Ambition and enthusiasm to seek opportunities to build value.
For Canada-based roles: The base salary range for this role is CAD$136,000 per year - CAD$151,000 per year.
