As the Manager of Creative, you will act as our in-house creative design lead for Experiences, shepherding the creative big idea from concept all the way through the design and production execution. You will closely collaborate with the project Producer to manage and provide day-to-day direction for the many creative agencies, consultants, and partners, ensuring that we are achieving best-in-class experiences for our guests. You will shape creative briefs and leverage your deep knowledge of spatial design, production methods, operational excellence, and schedule and budget factors to bring the creative vision to life. You will also be a strategic leader when it comes to finding new and innovative ways to showcase IP in surprising and delightful ways.
What you will do:
Work with the Producer in charge and stakeholders to lead the creative ideation, concept design, and art direction process in early design phases, as well as to develop, supervise and implement the creative vision for Experiences
Clearly define, articulate, and evangelize the Experiences brand pillars, brand visual identity, and experiential pillars across various internal and external partners
Develop creative intent packages & reference materials for external vendors in order to articulate the design direction clearly at all working levels
Lead charrettes and workshops as needed to garner new perspectives
Partner with the project lead in shepherding the design progress during all phases, i.e., by defining proof-of-concept mockups, delivering layouts and/or illustrations, redlining designing packages, graphics, drawings or 3D models to communicate notes to external design firms & architects
Work with cross-functional leads to protect the Creative connective thread to all other workstreams, including Marketing, Operations, Retail, Food & Beverage, & Attraction Production
Oversee production phases by reviewing material boards, visiting fabrication vendors, and providing reference materials during production kick-offs
Be onsite to oversee creative excellence during the construction, installation, & programming phase on site
Benchmark new and existing attractions, visit relevant trade shows and attend seminars to always be on the forefront of innovation and new directions for our industry
What we need from you:
Demonstrated, 10+ years of creative design experience in the architectural design, environmental design, hospitality design, exhibition design, theatrical design, or location based entertainment industry, with a strong combination of practical field and leadership experience
Ability to champion creative integrity while balancing speed-to-market and business goals
Demonstrated experience in applying brand strategy & visual identity into principles of design and actual design direction
A keen understanding of IP in environmental design, and various applications of IP in design
A dynamic portfolio demonstrating strong experience in concept design, attraction design, graphic design, color design, & art direction that has resulted in a body of best-in-class creative & experiential projects
A portfolio of diverse and different design styles showcasing a desire to try out new things
A passion to innovate, finding new ways of creating emotional connection to our guests, and to break the norm
Strong knowledge of digital design tools such as Sketch Up, Maya, Blender, Revit, Rhino, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc. (note: we’re not bound to a specific program)
In-depth knowledge of production methods and materials, finishes
Ability to make difficult (yet informed) decisions, always in the best interest of Netflix
Excellent communication skills, both verbally and digitally
Excellent organizing skills using digital tools and Google suite
Global experience preferred
Our compensation structure consists solely of an annual salary; we do not have bonuses. You choose each year how much of your compensation you want in salary versus stock options. To determine your personal top of market compensation, we rely on market indicators and consider your specific job family, background, skills, and experience to determine your compensation in the market range. The range for this role is $170,000 - $360,000.
