**About the Role** This role is to lead a range of high impact, high visibility efforts connected with Uber Flash (aka Courier) and Uber Direct teams. This effort will require strong coordination and communication across our many stakeholders in operations and with a multitude of engineering partner teams across the Mobility and Delivery spaces. You will drive large, strategic efforts that reimplement Direct/Connect solutions, and this reimplementation will have direct effects on how our teams build solutions upon those foundations. While driving this foundational change, you will simultaneously be involved in launching new features such as hyperbatching for retail last mile and increasing the efficiency of existing Direct/Connect functionality such as courier pick and pack (CPP). While we are improving our platform and launching new features, we will also offer a solution for any business that wants to use Uber behind the scenes to meet their delivery needs. In the future, this role will help determine strategic direction, collaborating to define the plans of implementation, and owning the path to success for these plans. This will set the direction for key engineering and product efforts. In the organization, this individual will raise the bar on what it means to be a TPM at Uber. You will be a leader and thought partner both to individuals within Delivery engineering organization and the TPM team. **What the Candidate Will Need / Bonus Points** \-\-\-\- What the Candidate Will Do ---- 1. Lead cross-functional teams to stay on track, plan next steps, and deal with complications. 2. Partner with engineering leads to evaluate technical strategy and criteria for success, providing feedback throughout the program the ensure an appropriate path forward. 3. Communicate plans, status, and risks with the intent of achieving program success where possible and producing clarity where challenges exist. 4. Work closely with engineering and product to conceptualize strategic initiatives and solutions and develop those into detailed program / project plans. 5. Project manage technical, complex, large scale, cross-team, cross-functional initiatives from planning to execution. 6. Accelerate execution velocity of programs and drive accountability by tracking progress, resolving dependencies, identifying issues, mitigating risks, and communicating status to key program stakeholders. 7. Understand technical implementation at the architecture level and propose technical alternatives when necessary. Develop broad domain and technical knowledge. 8. Engage, energize, and lead teams as an owner for high-impact initiatives. \-\-\-\- Basic Qualifications ---- 01. Proven experience of 7+ years as a TPM or Engineering Manager in a software, SaaS, or systems development environment with an overall experience of 10+ years. 02. Training in computer science, systems engineering, or comparable experience. 03. Strong technical experience in platform development for e-commerce and/or mobile applications at scale. 04. Solid technical aptitude and an ability to understand technical designs, challenges, and risks. Engineers enjoy working closely with you. 05. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and exceptional emotional intelligence. 06. Proven strong cross-team and cross-org stakeholder management. Ability to influence, motivate, and align people across a broad variety of job functions through your relationships. 07. Strong organizational skills to juggle many tasks without losing sight of the highest priority items. 08. Analytical and truth seeking. Ability to understand complex concepts and make reasoned decisions objectively. 09. Data driven: Experience determining effective program KPIs and using them to measure program success and issues. Strong technical, analytical, and quantitative skills with the ability to use data and metrics to backup assumptions, recommendations, and drive decisions. 10. Experienced in project management. Familiar with both Agile and Waterfall methodologies and able to apply them where best suited. 11. Detail oriented with the ability to thrive in fast paced, ambiguous environments where priorities are constantly evolving as the business grows and adapts globally. \-\-\-\- Preferred Qualifications ---- 1. Partnering with sr. engineering leadership to define OKRs and partnering to drive to achievement. 2. Experience analyzing data to determine success of efforts and/or next steps. 3. Experienced with large-scale solutions rewrites or migrations for engineering organizations. 4. Brought new features to market, ensuring on time delivery and data-based outcomes assessment.
