Uber Eats is on a mission to become the leading food delivery platform in the UK&I, one of our largest and most dynamic markets globally. The Safety team plays a crucial role in this mission, designing and managing processes and products that help to improve consumers’, couriers’, and merchants’ experiences, in turn maximising retention and platform engagement. The team leads work covering a number of risk areas (e.g. food safety & allergen management, vehicle crash prevention, alcohol compliance, interpersonal safety), and interfaces with a wide range of both internal and external stakeholders.
Uber Eats is hiring for a **Senior Safety Operations Manager for the UK and Ireland** reporting to the Head of Safety. This role requires a mix of strategic thinking, data-driven decision making, and executional excellence. You will be responsible for delivering quantitative and qualitative insights, and recommendations for solutions and improvements, to make the Uber Eats marketplace safer for all its users. We are looking for someone who is able to switch between long-term strategic initiatives one moment and rapid, tactical actions the next. The role will require close collaboration with other local, EMEA, and Global teams as well as cross-functional stakeholders and industry experts. As such, we are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at managing complex stakeholder relationships, and is passionate about driving innovative solutions to deliver real world impact.
What You'll Do:
Responsibilities:
1. **Data-Driven Insights: leverage internal and external data to build best-in-class insights on the key risk factors that contribute to safety incidents on the platform. Use these to drive decision making and design initiatives that will reduce incident rates**
2. **Product Rollouts: feed into product ideation and design to ensure each feature adds maximum value for our users**
3. **Cross-Functional Execution:** Work with internal teams (product, operations, policy, legal, communications) and external stakeholders (e.g. regulators, charitable organisations) to understand and drive best practice, and implement initiatives that help keep our users safe
4. **Operational Excellence:** Maintain and improve on the processes we’ve built to ensure Uber Eats is the safest and most compliant platform for restaurants, couriers and eaters
5. **Prioritisation & planning - Make sense of the multiple priorities within the Safety space and define the perfect prioritisation plan to ensure we tackle them based on resourcing and impact**
What You'll Need:
1. **Creative and strategic problem-solving:** you have a constant appetite and the capacity to analyse complex situations using a vast range of inputs, drawing sound conclusions and translating them into actionable plans. We often operate with imperfect data in a rapidly changing environment and need someone capable of designing sound actionable plans fast
2. **Align stakeholders behind your plans:** you will work closely with and drive coordination between the UK&I Operations team and a wide range of cross-functional teams, from CommOps to Legal, Policy and more
3. **Drive transformation:** you will help transform the internal safety culture within Uber, helping to ensure we keep safety at the heart of all that we do and launch innovative solutions to address emerging risks
4. **Make sound business decisions:** you readily connect the wider business strategy and performance metrics with the team’s actions on the ground, and design initiatives that ensure we prioritise safety without compromising on core business needs
5. **Obsess over operational performance:** you strive for excellence in everything you do and recognise the importance of marginal gains in process improvement
Basic Qualifications:
1. 5+ years of solid operational and analytical experience gained in a tech company, finance, operational management or consulting (analytics track)
2. Strong analytical skills, with an ability to interpret data and communicate results in a compelling manner to less technical teams (e.g. leadership, commercial POCs). Must be able to leverage data insights to build actionable strategies, and have experience with analytical tools:
3. Advanced Excel/Google Sheets proficiency working across large data sets is essential
4. Intermediate SQL experience
5. Strong stakeholder management skills, with experience aligning diverse teams across local, regional, and global levels. Experience working with external stakeholders is a plus
6. Structured problem-solving and strategic thinking to address complex challenges and deliver scalable solutions
7. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to adapt messaging for a wide range of audiences
