About the Role  

We are looking for a Communications Director to further accelerate the momentum of Ogilvy New York, a leading force for our North America region and the location that serves as Ogilvy’s global headquarters. As such, Ogilvy New York helps set the agency standard for creativity and innovation in our client work and relationships, as well as the culture and career experience for our employees. This person will be ambitious, hard-working, and passionate about telling stories – internally and externally – that showcase the impact creativity can on clients’ business performance and in people’s real lives.

The ideal candidate will come to the role with an understanding of the broader marketing landscape and how brands are adapting to changing industries and consumer expectations, as well as experience supporting both internal and external communications. The role will be responsible for collaborating on and driving strategies across media relations, thought leadership, social media and employee communications focused on strengthening Ogilvy New York’s profile in the marketplace, and that of the North America region. They are also responsible for supporting awards, events and industry engagement on behalf of the office and in alignment with the regional priorities and plans. This is a newly created role within the Global Communications team with the potential to touch all areas of Ogilvy’s business, so this person will need to have the energy, drive, personality, and initiative to shape the role into one that contributes notably to the agency’s reputation. This role will report to the SVP of Creative Communications for North America, and work closely with Ogilvy New York’s senior leadership team.

What You’ll Do 

  • Serve as a strategic partner to Ogilvy New York’s leadership team, collaborating closely with leaders across Ogilvy capabilities and the creative, strategy, client leadership, and new business/growth teams.
  • Help implement a communications strategy that bolsters Ogilvy New York’s reputation and the agency’s overall brand. 
  • Drive outreach to media outlets including marketing/advertising, as well as general interest, business and vertical-focused publications as needed to develop stories related to creativity, innovation, and culture.
  • Be proactive, resourceful and persistent when it comes to engaging with agency leadership and teams to identify content opportunities and facilitate communications plans in alignment with the office and agency’s strategic priorities.  
  • Elevate the profile of key agency leaders and next-gen talent by identifying external opportunities that highlight the agency’s creative capabilities, talent, and workplace culture. This includes identifying speaking opportunities, interviews, op-eds, and panels that showcase their expertise.
  • Contribute to and work across other areas of Ogilvy’s business as a member of the Global Corporate Communications team. 

What You’ll Need  

  • 8+ years of experience, ideally within creative agencies.
  • Be an effective collaborator and champion of team environments that are comfortable and encouraging.
  • Be a strong strategic thinker and storyteller who can marshal people and create gravity around ideas. 
  • Be a reliable team member who can anticipate needs and provide solutions and ideas.
  • Be open to being on a team where we all wear the hats that need wearing.
  • Strong attention to detail and high-performance standards for yourself and your colleagues.

The base salary range for this position at the time of this posting is indicated below. Individual compensation varies based on job-related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications. Pay Range
$100,000$230,000 USD
