The Senior Data Engineer - DevSecOps Opportunity

You’ll be an integral part of building and sustaining strong and effective relationships across Okta with our Engineering, Technical Operations, and Business Technology teams. As a Senior Data DevSecOps Engineer, you will act as a liaison between the Security organization and the Data & Insights team to design, build, secure and automate our infrastructure deployment processes.

What you’ll be doing 

• Build scalable and extensible platforms, services, and tools using Java, Python, Go, and other relevant technologies, with a focus on ensuring automation, reliability, and security across multiple cloud environments (AWS, GCP, etc.).
• Design and automate security best practices into our CI/CD deployment pipeline.
• Work closely with the data engineering, development, and IT teams to promote a culture of security awareness.
• Investigate vulnerability findings present within the environment, and coordinate remediation efforts in collaboration with other IT teams and subject matter experts.
• Ensure adherence to industry security standards (e.g., SOC 2, GDPR, HIPAA).
• Prioritize security and compliance by maintaining up-to-date container images, applying security patches, and implementing robust security measures to protect sensitive information and systems for various regulatory compliance and industry best practices including ISO 27001/27017/27018 , NIST SP 800-53, SOC 2 and FedRAMP.

What you’ll bring to the role

• 5+ years of experience with Java, Go, Python, or similar backend languages
• 5+ years of experience building, maintaining, and debugging services, internal tools, and frameworks
• 5+ years of experience automating and deploying large-scale production services in AWS, GCP,  ECS & EKS, and/or GCP GKE
• 3+ years experience managing CI/CD infrastructures, with a strong proficiency in tools like Github Actions, Jenkins, ArgoCD, Gitlab or any CI/CD to streamline deployment pipelines and ensure efficient software delivery
• Strong experience in security practices, AWS network engineering, and familiarity with configuration management tools like Chef/Terraform
• Experience in designing, building, and managing complex deployment pipelines across multiple cloud providers
