Job Description

About Us

We're TravelPerk, a hyper-growth SaaS platform offering companies a one-stop-shop for booking, managing and reporting business travel.

We've revolutionized the business travel market by offering an unrivaled selection of travel options, a powerful booking and management platform, and 24/7 customer support. It's why we've become the leading all-in-one travel management solution.

Founded in 2015 and headquartered in Barcelona, we’ve grown to over 1200 people in 9 offices across Europe and North America. In 2022 we became a ‘unicorn’ and in 2024 we raised $104 million in additional investment, with a total valuation of $1.4 billion.

We’ve been winning awards too. Since 2023, we’ve been voted one of the best places to work, one of the fastest-growing apps and tech companies, and a leading pioneer of business travel.

These are just some of the reasons why global brands like Wise, Red Bull, GetYourGuide, and Aesop trust us to supercharge their corporate travel.

The role

We are seeking an experienced and motivated, process driven Tax Manager to join the Tax team and oversee our indirect tax function.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience with US sales tax, specifically with respect to SaaS supplies and marketplace facilitator duties, and non-US VAT/GST regimes. Experience in a public company environment and with software enablement for indirect tax compliance is preferred for this role. This position will report to the International Tax Director, and will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of TravelPerk’s indirect tax processes, including systems, tax compliance, audits, research and planning.

This role will be based in London and, while we do offer certain flexibility, the responsibilities of the role require you to be in the office several days per week.

What you will do

  • Manage global indirect tax accounting, compliance, and controversy activities for TravelPerk’s subsidiaries, including the implementation, maintenance, and improvement of controls to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Serve as our internal subject matter expert for all indirect tax matters, manage third-party indirect tax advisors, and liaise with tax authorities as appropriate on behalf of the Company for indirect tax items.
  • Review indirect tax language on vendor and supplier contracts and advise business on indirect tax impacts of new initiatives.
  • Review and approve tax returns, reconcile tax returns with the ERP, maintain appropriate audit trails and manage and resolve tax audit issues.
  • Drive the implementation of software enablement for the indirect tax function and maintain the tax engine going forward. Identify automation opportunities to drive process efficiencies, quality improvements, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Provide guidance to the finance, accounting, legal and operational teams with respect to indirect tax matters and partner closely with key members of other business functions and teams on relevant tax matters.
  • Support and drive ad-hoc projects within a broader tax context. Assist in the implementation and maintenance of global tax policies, procedures and controls.

What you need

  • Minimum of 6 years progressive experience with indirect tax at a public accounting firm and/or a U.S. publicly traded corporation. Experience in a SOX controlled, public company environment preferred.
  • Expertise with indirect tax requirements (VAT, GST, Sales & Use tax, etc.) including applicability of VAT on transactions, VAT invoicing requirements, VAT report maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations, and external reporting disclosures.
  • Strong knowledge and extensive experience with US sales taxes, preferably with respect to SaaS supplies and marketplace facilitator duties.
  • Demonstrated experience in indirect tax compliance and tax legislation analysis including familiarity with ASC450 considerations.
  • Experience in the travel and hospitality sector preferred, including experience with TOMS regime,  US lodging and car rental taxes is a bonus.
  • Excellent time management in a fast-paced, deadline driven work environment, excellent communication (English), and organizational skills.
  • Detail oriented with strong trouble-shooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communicator with desire and ability to build relationships cross-functionally.
