PhonePe, India's leading digital payments platform, is seeking a seasoned professional to lead our Sales Operations team. With over 58 crore registered users and a vast merchant network, we are committed to driving financial inclusion and digital growth nationwide. The Head of Sales Operations will play a pivotal role in optimizing our sales processes, identifying new revenue opportunities, enhancing team performance, and ensuring seamless execution of sales strategies. Job Description

The key role of the sales head is to develop and ensure the overall success of sales programs in line with the business goals of PhonePe. The key aspects of this success will include

 

Business Goals

  • Strategy Building and Goal Setting: Establish sales goals working directly with individual businesses with a clear understanding of the dependencies
    • Identify opportunities where the sales team can deliver value. Create roadmaps and align on plans with stakeholders.
    • Be the face of operation in discussions with the BU at all levels. Create and drive narratives with all stakeholders in the sales ecosystem (e.g. Business, Vendor, Support teams, Leadership)
    • Create operating/Data structures and governance frameworks to ensure dependencies are tracked and variances acted on promptly
    • Review and own roadmaps to success on the goals that have been aligned with different business stakeholders
    • Find ways to create transparent views of performance and define pathways to drive improvements
  • Own achievement of Revenue goals 
  • Success in sales can depend on the quality of multiple resources like Site capabilities and Sales skills. This leader will need to
    • Communicate with all actors in the ecosystem to identify promising levers to improve quality of effort
    • Own the learning and improvement processes with sales operations
    • Collaborate to ensure success of the program
  • Work with product/engineering teams to identify ways to improve sales
  • Create and nurture ongoing efforts to improve understanding of customers and their requirements. This should allow us to partner with businesses to improve products and drive growth in the longer term. 

People

  • Build out the culture of the operations centers in line with PhonePe business’ culture within the sales operations
  • Ensure that the goals for people and teams are designed to ensure the success of the overall program
  • Enable alignment of goals for vendor personnel to PhonePe goals
  • Invest in people to improve the functioning of the site and its capability across the whole performance cycle (Hiring →Training → Performance Measurement and Feedback)
  • Build and manage incentive plans and other levers to optimise sales

Ideal Candidate -

  • 12+ years of work experience in sales leadership or revenue generation roles in BFSI with a keen understanding of operations
  • Demonstrated experience setting up/transforming sales operations
  • Experience in operations with good understanding of the ways of working of a BPO environment

Skills

  • Sound understanding of support functions (Training, Quality, WFM) and the role they play in an operations ecosystem
  • Strong collaboration skills and sales drive
  • Demonstrated negotiation skills backed by strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills to read emerging customer/sales trends and then address them through sound planning
