Job Title: Senior Designer, Design System

Location: On-site
Job Type: Full-time
Experience: 4-5 years in design, with at least 2 years of experience working with design systems.

About the Role:
We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Design System Designer to strengthen our design system and contribute to its growth and scalability. In this role, you will craft and maintain design components, ensure accessibility and usability, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate the design system seamlessly into our products. You’ll serve as a key advocate for design systems within the organization, driving alignment and contributing to an exceptional user experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design System Integration: Build and maintain design system components that scale across products while considering system-wide interactions and dependencies.
  • Visual & Interaction Design: Create complex visual components and interaction guidelines that align with and expand the boundaries of the design system.
  • Accessibility: Evaluate accessibility across the system, ensure adherence to WCAG standards, and recommend improvements to make the system more inclusive.
  • Design Tokens: Develop and maintain a robust set of design tokens for components, ensuring consistency in implementation and adaptability across platforms.
  • Documentation: Create and manage detailed, user-friendly documentation covering guidelines, best practices, and usage instructions for the design system.
  • System Thinking: Understand the interplay between different systems and optimize solutions for cohesive integration and sustainability.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with product teams, developers, and stakeholders to ensure alignment between the design system and business goals.
  • Critical Thinking: Address edge cases and inconsistencies with innovative, user-centered solutions while maintaining system coherence.
  • Mentorship: Share knowledge with peers and junior designers, fostering a culture of learning and design excellence.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in UI/UX or Product Design, with at least 2 years focused on design systems.
  • Proven expertise in creating scalable, reusable design components and patterns.
  • Strong skills in system thinking, interaction design, and visual design principles.
  • Experience with design tokens, WCAG accessibility standards, and creating detailed documentation.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD.
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and the ability to collaborate effectively with developers.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to advocate for design system adoption and educate stakeholders on its value.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience conducting accessibility audits and implementing inclusive design practices.
  • Familiarity with design system governance and lifecycle management.
  • Ability to present design system strategies and updates to stakeholders effectively.
