## Uber is looking for top-notch engineers looking to unleash the next wave of growth at Uber by multiplying developer productivity. This role involves designing, developing, and scaling a robust Java platform and tools to solve Uber’s unique large-scale build, code, and dependency management challenges. You will help delight our engineering teams and enable the whole engineering organization to iterate rapidly.

## **About the Team:**
The Java foundation team is crucial to our Developer Experience organization. It focuses on providing a robust Java platform and tools to solve Uber’s unique large-scale build, code, and dependency management challenges. We are a team of Java experts passionate about solving complex challenges and leveraging cutting-edge technologies such as GenAI to automate and modernize Uber’s Java ecosystem.
## **Minimum qualifications:**
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics or related field **OR** 1-year full-time Software Engineering work experience, **WHICH INCLUDES** 1-year total technical software engineering experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Programming language (e.g. C, C++, Java, Python, or Go)
- _Note the 1-year total of specialized software engineering experience may have been gained through education and full-time work experience, additional training, coursework, research, or similar (OR some combination of these). The year of specialized experience is not necessarily in addition to the years of Education & full-time work experience indicated._
## **Technical skills:**
Preferred:
- Sound understanding of fundamentals and principles of distributed systems.
- Expert level in one of the following programming languages: Java, Go, C/C++, Python, or C#.
- Systematic problem-solving approach and knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.
- A good understanding of operating and scaling large-scale distributed systems in practice, including application security, monitoring, and managing incidents.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team and across offices.
- GenAI-related experience is a big plus for this role.

For San Francisco, CA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
For Seattle, WA-based roles: The base salary range for this role is USD$158,000 per year - USD$175,500 per year.
For all US locations, you will be eligible to participate in Uber's bonus program, and may be offered an equity award & other types of comp. You will also be eligible for various benefits.
