Software Engineering Manager, Google Play Apps

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
• 3 years of experience in a technical leadership role; overseeing projects, with 2 years of experience in a people management, supervision/team leadership role.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with modern mobile application development technologies (e.g., Android platform, Jetpack, Compose, Kotlin, MVVM architecture).
• Experience in collaborating with remote teams across organizational boundaries, time zones, and other constraints.
• Experience in recruiting and building an engineering team.

With technical and leadership expertise, you manage engineers across multiple teams and locations, a large product budget and oversee the deployment of large-scale projects across multiple sites internationally.

• Oversee performance management, career development, mentor, coach, and cultivate team well-being.
• Partner with Product Managers, UX Designers, and Technical Program Managers in India and the US to define product roadmaps, prioritize features, and execute on product strategy. Contribute to the direction for the Google Play Apps roadmap. Oversee the execution of programs, ensuring clear charters, alignment with cross-functional stakeholders, and timely delivery of results.
• Maintain an understanding of current technologies and industry trends, particularly in full-stack development, mobile (Android preferred), and large-scale applications powered by state-of-the-art technologies, including MVVM architecture and Android platform. Advocate best practices in software development within the team.
• Lead the expansion of the India engineering team, including hiring, onboarding, and integration of new engineers. Develop and implement scaling strategies to meet future product demands.
