Software Engineer, AICore, Platforms and Devices

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  
• 1 year of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, C, C++, Java, JavaScript).
  
• 1 year of experience with data structures or algorithms.
  

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science, or in a related technical field.
  
• Experience in developing accessible technologies.
• Experience with Mobile Development.
  
• Experience with Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI).
• Experience with Machine Learning.

This team is dedicated to crafting a state-of-the-art GenAI capability by fully harnessing the potential of LLMs and other foundational AI models running directly on mobile devices. AICore was launched with the Pixel 8/9, devices since 2023 and gaining significant attention alongside the Gemini Nano announcement, your mission is to innovate from within the Android platform and extend these benefits outward, influencing mobile experiences everywhere. Beyond Pixel, we are working with Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) across the Android ecosystem.

• Collaborate with Google DeepMind, CoreML to adapt and implement the Gemini model for mobile user applications.
• Optimize the AICore runtime, specifically Gemini Nano, ensuring they are optimally integrated into the mobile environment across the Android ecosystem. 
• Build developer facing Application programming interface (API) to empower app developers to build innovative user experiences in Android applications.
• Engage in prototyping with product teams, aiming to pioneer novel user experiences by elevating mobile capabilities through methods such as RAG (Retrieval-Augmented Generation), traditional Machine Learning (ML) models, LoRAs or targeted Large Language Model (LLM) fine-tuning.
