Sr. Manager, Software Engineering, AI

The role

This engineering leadership role will build and manage a new AI engineering team with the mission of bringing the value of AI to SoFi Members. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of success in leading and managing high-performing engineering teams, as well as a deep understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) systems.  This role is well suited for high-ownership leaders who are focused on creating incredible new consumer products using AI.

What you’ll do:

• Manage a team of engineers in the development and implementation of AI/ML solutions for SoFi products
• Collaborate with senior leaders and other stakeholders to identify and prioritize AI/ML initiatives
• Set high standards for quality and on-time delivery.
• Recruit, grow, and retain top engineering talent
• Ensure that the team is operating in an agile and efficient manner
• Partner with other engineering teams to ensure that AI/ML solutions are integrated seamlessly into SoFi's products and services
• Stay up-to-date on the latest AI/ML technologies
• Evangelize AI/ML within SoFi

What you’ll need:

• Strong experience with or demonstrated passion/skill for AI engineering work
• Bachelor’s Degree in a technical field
• 6+ years of Software Engineering experience
• 3+ years management experience
• Deep programming experience
• Experience managing multiple teams of engineers, and coaching and growing leaders
• Solid understanding of relational databases (MySQL or Postgres)
• Experience working in a collaborative coding environment, refining designs together, working through code reviews and managing pull requests
• Passion and expertise for tools and technology
• Affinity for solving problems and shipping impactful features, not polishing perfect code or architecture

Nice to have:

• Experience building products in a highly regulated industry
• Knowledge of data privacy, security, and compliance considerations in AI-driven products
