In this role, you will:
- Ensure the accurate and timely processing of payments across various banking networks, including SWIFT, SEPA.
- Investigate and resolve payment issues, including failed, delayed, or disputed transactions, by collaborating with internal teams and external banking partners.
- Manage bank-to-bank communications, ensuring smooth transaction flows and compliance with industry regulations.
- Monitor and analyze payment operations data, identifying trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for process improvement.
- Work closely with compliance and risk teams to ensure adherence to AML, KYC, and regulatory guidelines related to payment processing.
- Support automation and process optimization efforts, reducing manual work and improving operational efficiency.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, technology, and customer support, to enhance payment workflows and address operational challenges.
What you need to be successful:
Professional Experience & Knowledge:
- 1-3+ years of experience in payment operations, transaction processing, or financial operations within a bank, fintech, or payment service provider.
- Familiarity with SWIFT, SEPA, or other payment rails.
- Understanding of banking regulations and risk management in payments.
- Experience handling payment investigations, reconciliations, and resolving discrepancies.
Technical & Analytical Skills:
- Data Analysis & Reporting – Proficiency in Google workspace, SQL tools for data analysis and reporting.
- Attention to Detail – Strong ability to spot errors, discrepancies, and anomalies in transactions.
- Automation & Process Improvement – Experience with process optimization, automation tools, or working with tech teams to enhance efficiency.
Soft Skills & Work Approach:
- Problem-Solving Mindset – Ability to think critically, troubleshoot payment issues, and propose solutions quickly.
- Adaptability & Resilience – Comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with tight deadlines.
- Strong Communication Skills – Ability to liaise with internal teams (finance, compliance, risk) and external stakeholders (banks, auditors, customers).
- Team Player with Independence – Works well in a team setting but can also take ownership of tasks independently.
- Language skills – excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German. Another European language is a bonus.
