Senior Web Engineer - Banking Foundations

Banking Foundations domain mission for N26 is to provide secure and compliant banking services that are frictionless and innovative for customers, while enabling efficient operations and informed decision-making for our staff. We achieve this through robust customer identity verification, proactive risk management, and seamless customer support. We are looking for a talented Senior Web engineer either in Berlin or Barcelona to work with highly motivated teams with vision to redefine the future of customer risk management to enable safe banking.

As a Web Engineer, you will build and continually improve the systems that are crucial in detecting and processing potential fraudulent activities, and have a big impact on our ability to achieve our ambitious goals. You will be encouraged to embrace the latest technological updates and given a platform to work on complex, interesting problems on a daily basis.

In this role, you will:

• Work on a modern unified tech stack with the main components being Express, React, Apollo GraphQL, CSS-in-JS to name just a few
• Contribute to our extensive documentation and our testing suite (unit testing with Jest, accessibility checks, end-to-end testing with Cypress)
• Build UI features for user-facing and internal applications
• You will proactively work on improving the Web tech stack and ensure high quality standards
• Work in a collaborative environment on challenging tasks you will manage and coordinate releases for the cross-functional team

What you need to be successful:

• Deep knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and extensive experience with APIs using GraphQL or REST
• Experience in developing high quality accessible applications (WCAG 2.1) with semantic markup
• Understanding of server-side rendering using NodeJs 
• To be interested and caring about Security, Performance and User Experience
• Exposure to working in cross-functional teams in Agile environments 
• Shared responsibility for our frontend architecture, prioritizing performance, scalability, and reliability.
• Foster a culture of excellence by reviewing code, mentoring teammates, and sharing knowledge.
• Engage in team discussions, explaining your solutions clearly while welcoming feedback and collaboration.​
