We are looking for an experienced, operationally-minded engineering leader eager to own a critical high-throughput low-latency service that shapes customer experience with DynamoDB. In this role, you will own DynamoDB routing service and lead feature development and operational improvements to continue to deliver amazing single-digit millisecond performance.
As a software development manager on the DynamoDB team, you will lead a team of talented engineers to build reliable, highly scalable distributed systems. This is the opportunity to pave the path for a new generation of cloud database services and grow as a technology leader.
Key job responsibilities
1. Lead and mentor a team of engineers responsible for operating DynamoDB's front-end API layer.
2. Shape the roadmap that explains how you will be evolving the service to meet customer and technology needs.
3. Drive the design and implementation of software initiatives, collaborating across teams and functions as necessary to achieve your goals.
4. Analyze operational metrics and implement best practices and processes to minimize engineering churn and improve organizational productivity.
5. Foster a culture of innovation, continuous learning, and operational excellence, influeincing within the team and beyond.- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations
- Experience partnering with product or program management teams- 2+ years of leading development of applications backed by AWS services or using other cloud based technologies and services experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $166,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
