Role Description: As a Data Scientist II, you will be working within the Flights Data Science & Analytics team and you will be involved in various stages of data science solutions, from ideation to implementation. You will be working independently on data consumption and preparation, effectively solving business problems through statistical data analysis and modeling. This role involves interpreting experimental data to guide business decisions, uncovering new opportunities, and engaging with stakeholders. As a Data Scientist II you are expected to continuously learn, expand your technical competencies, engage with peers, and understand the larger data ecosystem and the goals for Flights. You are also responsible to ensure the quality of your work through peer review. As a successful candidate you will be collaborating closely with the Apps Discovery and Engagement team, and with the broader Flights CCJ DSnA team. As a DS II, you will be involved in various stages of data science solutions, from ideation to implementation, helping steer the product development decisions by providing relevant and actionable data insights. You will be closely working within the ADE product team on generating insights on how users interact with our B.com/flights Apps, and how to measure the long term engagement of our customers. You will be also helping steer the Genius benefits in Flights, by analysing new campaigns and deals exclusive for our Genius customers. Key Job Responsibilities and Duties Responsible for owning the design and delivery of entire Data Science solutions based on business requirements, bringing them from the initial idea-generation phase to implementation independently. Responsible for working autonomously on consuming data, preparing it for data science use, translating business problems to data stories and solving them effectively by applying suitable statistical data analysis and modeling methods. Leverages input from business stakeholders in all of the above to determine the right technical solutions to deliver customer value. Responsible for designing and interpreting quantitative experiments to objectively guide key business decision making. Responsible for independently identifying and managing stakeholders in operational, project-based, and managerial roles. Effectively communicates, addresses stakeholder needs, and conveys complex analysis results in a clear manner. Flag roadblocks, prioritizes their workload, and manage expectations with stakeholders. Begins to guide junior colleagues in stakeholder engagement. Responsible for being flexible in adopting existing internal and external Data Science approaches, proposing and spotting opportunities to apply new approaches and expanding their technical competencies and their peers when a more efficient way presents itself. Responsible for ensuring quality of their own work by validating it through peer review. Role Qualifications and Requirements Master degree, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (Statistics, Mathematics, Econometrics, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering, Bioinformatics, or similar) PhD or 3+ years of experience Experience solving real problems using data mining techniques and with statistical rigor Strong technical skills regarding data analysis, statistics, machine learning and programming. Strong working knowledge of Hadoop, Spark, SQL, Python and/or R.
