The Senior Manager, Manufacturing is a strategic leader responsible for setting the direction and overseeing all aspects of the manufacturing organization. This role focuses on developing and executing long-term strategies to optimize efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and quality.
The Senior Manager leads and mentors the team, manages relationships with senior stakeholders and contract manufacturers, and drives key initiatives that align with the company’s overall objectives. This role emphasizes high-level decision-making, strategic planning, and relationship management to ensure the organization’s manufacturing goals are achieved.
Serve as the primary point of contact for contract manufacturers, ensuring strong partnerships and effective communication of production expectations, schedules, and quality standards.
Drive and oversee daily production operations with contract manufacturing partners, ensuring exceptional on-time delivery, strict adherence to specifications, and strategic alignment with company objectives to maximize performance and quality.
Work with contract manufacturers to resolve production issues, ensure process improvements, and drive cost reductions while maintaining product quality and regulatory compliance.
Lead, mentor and develop Manufacturing Engineering team members, providing guidance on manufacturing processes, technical challenges and strategic initiatives.
Set performance objectives for the Manufacturing Engineering team, monitor progress and conduct regular reviews to foster a high-performance culture.
Lead and oversee all failure analysis activities to identify root causes of defects or performance issues. Ensure that thorough investigations are conducted, and actionable insights are generated to prevent recurrence.
Collaborate with engineering, supply chain and other teams to implement solutions identified from failure analysis. Foster a culture of continuous improvement and proactive problem-solving.
Ensure that contract manufacturers adhere to quality control standards and regulatory requirements (ISO, GMP, etc.) conducting regular audits and reviews as necessary.
Implement Lean Manufacturing, Six, Sigma, and other process improvement methodologies to optimize production efficiency, minimize waste, and enhance product quality.
Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
Equivalent combination of education and/or work experience in related field may be substituted
10-12 years of experience in Manufacturing engineering, with a focus on quality control and process improvement.
Experience in manufacturing with a focus on managing contract manufacturers.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with external partners to achieve shared goals around cost, quality and delivery timelines.
Proven experience leading process improvement initiatives, utilizing methodologies like Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar frameworks to optimize efficiency and reduce waste.
Experience working with international contract manufacturers and navigating the complexities of global supply chains, including cultural and logistical considerations.
Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team of engineers.
In-depth knowledge of manufacturing processes, quality control systems, and industry standards.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with a focus on root cause analysis and data-driven decision making.
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners.
Strong project management skills, with experience in managing complex projects from inception to completion.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels
