Who you are:

You are a skilled iOS Software Developer with extensive software design and implementation skills. You are skilled in the use of current programming languages and tools and generally act as a team resource on custom development initiatives. You find reward in building robust software that can function 24/7 with no down time. If you love technology, are passionate about creating scaleable software, SDKs and APIs and are keen on contributing to open source projects - we would love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

The iOS Software Developer will be part of a team who designs and develops mobile applications that are high-quality, scalable, performant, and get used by hundreds of thousands of users across different markets, as well as internal teams within Geotab. This position will involve using the latest tools and SDKs on Android and iOS to develop applications that are diligently architected as well as being testable and maintainable. This position will also contribute to the .NET backend and TypeScript UI frameworks. In addition to being mobile specialists, Geotab also believes in versatile developers. The team has also built mobile back-end systems, streaming data processors, and public-facing APIs.

How you'll make an impact

  • Define, design, and implement new software applications in collaboration with other members of the development and technical teams.
  • Translate application storyboards and use cases into functional applications.
  • Perform Test-Driven and Security-Driven Development.
  • Conduct comprehensive code reviews and ensure that coding standards are followed.
  • Analyze call stacks, trace files, debug logs or performance data to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of bugs.
  • Participate in development of prototypes, minimum viable products and PoCs.
  • Help maintain code quality, organization and automation.
  • Perform maintenance programming for existing applications.
  • Ensure the functionality, performance, scalability, reliability, realistic implementation schedules and system architecture for each assignment.
  • Provide design documents and documentation to ensure efficient maintenance and code reuse.
  • Provide recommendations for improvements in the overall development process.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotating schedule.

What you'll bring to the role

  • iOS, Swift experience.
  • Design, build, and maintain efficient & reliable code for high throughput, performance critical, scalable applications.
  • Strong ability to write testable code and unit tests.
  • Android, Java, Kotlin experience is nice to have.
  • Working knowledge of Cloud computing experience with GCP, AWS and/or Azure
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to problem-solve to well-judged decisions.
  • Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications by following Geotab coding best-practices, peer collaboration and continuous learning.
  • JavaScript/TypeScript experience is nice to have.
  • Keen interest to stay relevant in the latest technology with the flexibility to quickly adapt to the growing technological and market demands.
