Who you are:

Are you a passionate and experienced software development leader with a knack for building scalable data solutions? Geotab is seeking a Software Development Team Lead to guide and mentor a team of talented developers in designing, building, and maintaining high-throughput, performance-critical applications.

What you'll do:

The Software Development Team Lead will lead a team that builds a web-based, state-of-the-art, telematics platform that makes sense of the data collected by our custom-built hardware. This includes designing, building, and maintaining efficient, reusable, reliable code to develop high throughput, performance critical, scalable applications. 

How you'll make an impact

  • Manage software development projects; develop and implement efficient, clean code with assigned team that satisfies customer requirements.
  • Manage an Agile software development team with regards to planning, task assignments, work arrangements and other Software Development department expectations.
  • Lead and inspire a team of software developers in a collaborative environment.
  • Architect, design, and implement robust data pipelines and reporting solutions using C#, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and BigQuery.
  • Champion Agile methodologies and drive process improvements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Foster a culture of code quality, best practices, and continuous learning.
  • Conduct comprehensive testing and code reviews to ensure that code quality is maximized and best-practices are followed.
  • Participate in development of prototypes, minimum viable products and PoCs.
  • Appropriately document system design and architecture such that it is easy to understand, maintain and extend.
  • Provide expert project-leadership and guidance to the team as a SME.
  • Collaborate and support employees during the performance management process, meeting KPAs and career development planning.
  • Support Geotab global strategic initiatives.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotating schedule.

What you'll bring to the role

  • 8+ years of Software Development experience.
  • 2+ years in a formal People Leadership role, including performance management and hiring. 
  • Expertise in C#, GCP, BigQuery, and cloud-based data platforms.
  • Strong understanding of front-end technologies (React, JavaScript) and UI/UX design.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka, and Git.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
  • Post-secondary Diploma/Degree specialization in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
