**About the Role**
We are looking for someone to support our Public Policy efforts in Japan, reporting directly to our Head of Public Policy in Japan.
Our Public Policy team is responsible for cultivating positive relationships with policy makers and third parties to help unlock the full potential of our technology. It is also about determining the best local regulatory framework and developing campaigns to achieve positive reform. In this role, you will assist the policy team in research, analysis, tracking and presentation of legislative movements and policies. In addition, you will work with internal and external stakeholders to align on policy positions and assist in policy advocacy.
**Your Impact in Role**
You will work with our team members on various key issues which are critical to our main businesses (mobility and delivery), including:
- Monitoring legislative and policy movements pertaining to delivery and mobility and tracking their progress.
- Conducting research and analysis on relevant policy topics.
- Building insightful reports and presentations to advocate for Uber’s policy positions
- Attending government hearings on relative policy topics.
- Engaging in creative thinking and problem solving. Deep dive into our business needs and regulatory environment and analyze risks/opportunities through critical thinking and ideation.
- Working closely with cross-functional teams to gain their input and align on important business/policy decisions.
- Collaborating with external stakeholders to align on important policy positions and implement advocacy campaigns.
**What You Will Need**
- Preferably 3+ years of experience working in government or policy research/advocacy firms
- Well motivated to promote initiatives by him/herself to achieve their own ambitious goals
- Fluent Japanese/English speaking and writing
- Strategic thinking and problem solving abilities
- Experience working with external stakeholders
- Possess analytical skills and data-driven decision making mindset
- Experience taking initiative in a constantly changing work environment; resilience to overcome challenges and deliver during fluid conditions is preferred
- Business oriented mindset while furthering public interests
