Analytics Engineer, Business Intelligence

As an Analytics Engineer with HelloFresh, you will support the analytic needs of our Growth organization for HelloFresh North America. You will play a pivotal role in helping us continue to succeed as the leading global meal kit provider.  You will sit within the analytics engineering division of our business intelligence team and serve in a hands-on technical role. The Analytics Engineer will solve challenging problems using customer and business data; core responsibilities include the development and automation of Marketing BI tools and enhancing and facilitating the information extraction process.

To succeed in this role, you must demonstrate a desire to improve on existing techniques and processes and have a passion for working with data. You should be confident in developing efficient, scalable, analytical pipelines using industry best practices, and creating engaging dashboards/data visualizations for stakeholders.

You will …

• Develop, enhance, and performance tune analytical pipelines using state of the art tools (Snowflake, Databricks, dbt, Python-Pandas, Airflow)
• Contribute to the design of the data warehouse, making recommendations on the data model and/or schema of data assets
• Validate upstream and downstream data sources to ensure data quality standards are met
• Instill best practices and develop in Tableau, especially as it relates to how data is extracted from the data warehouse, the format of the data fed into Tableau, the definition of measures and parameters, and creating engaging visualizations
• Code custom self-service reporting solutions in Python using libraries such as dash, plotly, and streamlit
• Ensure proper technical and stakeholder-facing documentation and data lineage is captured for data pipelines and dashboards
• Work with stakeholders to gather requirements for new data assets and dashboards, using your knowledge of the data and experience to respectfully challenge any assumptions that need refining
• Develop an in-depth understanding of how to use the data infrastructure at HelloFresh, working closely with the Data Team (analysts, data scientists, and engineers) in order to facilitate the information extraction process
• Write SQL queries that adhere to best practices & performance tune long-running or inefficient queries on an as-needed basis

At a minimum, you have...

• A BS/MS in computer science, mathematics, economics, statistics, engineering, or equivalent analytical experience.
• At least 3-5 years of professional experience in Data Analytics or Business Intelligence. Past experience in Marketing Analytics is a plus.
• Strong SQL, strong knowledge of databases, and experience in developing reporting on a BI platform (e.g. Tableau).
• Experience working with dbt and Python. Experience working with Airflow is a plus.
• A solid understanding of techniques and best practices for database design, data modeling, and ETL including the ability to do hands-on work. Knowledge of different industry prevalent data warehouse design models.
