B2B Payments and Lending Credit Strategy and Operations team is looking for a Sr. Underwriting Manager to join the B2B Payments team to manage the credit underwriting operations of the North America Pay by Invoice portfolio. The successful candidate will be a thought leader who can help build a best in class underwriting program. In this role, the candidate will drive credit policy changes and procedures related to underwriting operations, as well as manage a team of credit analysts responsible for manually reviewing and making credit decisions based on the customer’s financials and credit worthiness. The ideal candidate should possess strong people and credit management skills, directly support continuous improvement initiatives, be highly analytical, resourceful, customer-focused and team oriented, with outstanding communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with key stakeholders. This is a management role directly managing a team of Credit Analysts; demonstrated success managing a team is a must.
Key job responsibilities
The primary responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:
• Manage day-to-day operations for the NA PBI Credit Operations team, which includes direct management of Credit Analysts responsible for daily processes
• Coach and mentor Credit Analysts on policy, procedures and functional initiatives, and scale underwriting operations team
• Assist in defining policies and product features to support automated and manual credit decisioning and monitoring
• Establish, constantly improve, and be a thought leader for a credit adjudication and performance monitoring platform
• Develop processes, mechanisms and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to grow efficiently and in a scalable way
• Review complex credit decisions that require manual reviews or exceptions
• Identify, monitor and communicate the right metrics to measure process quality, decision quality and team productivity
• Participate in program operations, partner with product managers and contribute to team-wide improvement goals
• Own relationships with Sales and Business operations to ensure balance between customer needs and prudent risk management• 8+ years of experience of Commercial underwriting using financial statements, bank statements or credit information
• Experience in managing, implementing and executing an operations and underwriting program for a large, complex, multi-national portfolio
• Interpersonal skills including written and oral communication skills necessary to build relationships and positively influence decision making.
• 4+ years of experience managing and developing a global team
• Experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders, including sales
• Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to recognize non-obvious patterns
• High attention to detail and desire to roll up sleeves and solve problems at root cause
• Effective time management, prioritization, and organizational skills
• Growth potential to develop as a senior executive
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is required
• Experience in finance or bankingl• MBA, CFA or Master's Degree in relevant fields
• Experience working with a global team spread across 2 or more timezones
• Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $119,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $198,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
