Security Awareness Analyst (Infographic & Engagement Specialist) - Contractor

The Security Awareness Analyst (Contractor) will play a pivotal role in fostering a culture of security awareness across the organization. This includes designing and delivering engaging educational content, developing incentive programs, and leveraging gamification to make security best practices accessible and impactful. The analyst will also lead in-person cybersecurity orientations to onboard new employees, ensuring they are equipped with essential security knowledge from day one. Additionally, this role will be instrumental in integrating security awareness initiatives during mergers and acquisitions (M&A), addressing unique risks and aligning security practices across newly acquired entities. The Security Awareness Analyst will oversee the organization’s simulated phishing program, selecting and deploying simulations, creating tailored educational follow-ups, and tracking key metrics to drive program maturity. A willingness to learn cybersecurity concepts and apply creative approaches to content development is essential.

Join our team on a 12-month contract with the flexibility of fully remote work. This role is fully remote for candidates who reside outside the 50 mile radius of our San Ramon office. For candidates who reside within 50 miles of our San Ramon location, this role is Hybrid and would require 3 days a week (M, W, TH) in our San Ramon office. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Design Visual Content: Create infographics, graphics, and digital content for use in security awareness campaigns, training programs, and phishing education.
• Manage Communication Channels: Develop, maintain, and promote content on internal platforms like Slack, SharePoint, email, and digital displays to maximize reach and engagement.
• Host Cybersecurity Orientations: Conduct regular in-person cybersecurity orientation sessions for new employees, ensuring an engaging and informative introduction to security best practices.
• Gamification & Event Management: Organize and host in-person and virtual security awareness events; support content enrichment and gamification of training activities.
• Social Media Engagement: Create and promote security content for social media channels—internally (Slack) and externally (LinkedIn); engage with followers, respond to inquiries, and monitor platform interactions.
• Swag & Incentives Management: Maintain and promote a security-focused storefront on a vendor platform, managing swag and incentive programs to encourage participation in awareness initiatives.
• Collaboration with Vendors: Partner with external vendors on communication materials or video production to enhance the reach and impact of security messaging.
• Program Graphics & Compliance Support: Develop and maintain graphics and materials for various security awareness initiatives, including annual compliance training and the phishing awareness program.
• Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) Integration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess and integrate security awareness training and culture into newly acquired companies. Develop tailored onboarding content to address unique security risks and ensure alignment with organizational security standards.
• Change Management Support: Assist in driving cultural alignment during M&A transitions by communicating security expectations and fostering a unified security mindset across diverse teams.
• Simulated Phishing Program Management: Oversee the development and execution of the simulated phishing program. Responsibilities include selecting and deploying phishing simulations, creating educational follow-up content, tracking and reporting on key metrics, and advancing the program's maturity to address evolving threats.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design, Communications, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Willingness to Learn Cybersecurity Concepts to effectively translate complex topics into user-friendly content.
• Proficiency in Design Tools: Experience with design software (e.g., Adobe Creative Suite) and strong skills in visual storytelling.
• Communication Skills: Ability to convey technical or complex ideas simply, creating content that resonates with all levels of the organization.
• Project & Time Management: Highly organized with a demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, campaigns, and events.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with cybersecurity and privacy principles is helpful but not required.
• Experience managing swag programs and incentives through third-party vendor platforms.
• Background in social media management or experience in social media engagement.
• In-depth experience with graphic design using Adobe products. A portfolio of past work will be required for review.
• Experience supporting security integration during mergers and acquisitions (M&A) processes.
• Experience with phishing companies such as KnowBe4, Cofense or ProofPoint.
• Experience with managing simulated phishing campaigns, including education, and metrics tracking.
