The Opportunity

Postman, as an API platform, has largely been used by the developers to build, test and share the APIs and monitor the API usage. The next logical phase for the developers and testers is to observe and verify how the system behaves under different load profiles. To solve this, Postman launched a Performance Testing product in alpha phase last year.

It was selectively rolled out to developers and enterprises and has gathered larger adoption over time. 

With strong positive feedback from our users, we would like to make this Generally Available (GA) both for App and Cloud.

The team is expanding and this is a fantastic opportunity to be a part of an early stage product development. The team is focused on identifying further use cases for our users and quickly iterating on the product to deliver the highest impact to our users and the business. 

We’re looking for an experienced Software Engineer to massively scale this product, make this available to the existing 4+ million developer network of postman (and beyond) and work towards the monetisation of the same. 

What You'll Do

  • Scale & develop a team of diverse engineers to build the best-in- class Performance Testing tool
  • Design and implement a highly scalable and reliable system that can cater to the needs of the millions of developers performing perf testing on their APIs. 
  • Optimize the user experience and performance of the Product by identifying the right initiatives to invest in to scale the product. 
  • Raise the bar for engineering standards, tooling and processes.
  • Partner with peers in Product, Design & Engineering to craft the best building blocks, guidelines, & standards, & evolve the team’s vision, mission, & strategy.
  • Participate in the end-to-end recruiting process, hiring & onboarding exceptional engineering talent.
  • Define, measure & own key metrics for the performance of your and your team’s functional areas.
  • Motivate & communicate across multiple levels. Bring out the best in the individuals on your team by enabling them to do the best work of their lives.
  • Help engineers develop new skills & advance in their careers.

About You

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science related field or equivalent practical experience.
  • 2-8 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages (e.g. C, C++, Java, JavaScript, NodeJS).
  • Experience building Microservice architectures.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience building user interfaces with modern web technologies.
  • Experience working on standardizing and solving common problems in engineering in a growing company
  • Experience with Distributed Systems
  • Experience building SaaS applications
  • Experience using Cloud (AWS, GCP, Azure) and building cloud native applications

This position requires you to be present in our Bangalore office on Mondays,Wednesdays & Fridays.
