Degreed India is looking for a Senior Software Engineer, Database Developer to join our team. You will be responsible for architecting, implementing, and optimizing scalable database solutions that support our growing platform. As part of a cross-functional team, you will contribute to feature development, database performance improvements, and schema design to enhance the Degreed product.

 

Key Skills

Database Development & Optimization:

  • Advanced SQL query writing and performance analysis.
  • Expertise in database schema design, indexing, and stored procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of data warehousing and reporting strategies.


Cloud & Scalability
:

  • Experience with scalable database architectures in cloud or hybrid environments.
  • Knowledge of data replication, partitioning, and sharding techniques.


Collaboration & Communication
:

  • Strong ability to work cross-functionally with product owners, engineers, and UX teams.
  • Experience in mentoring team members and conducting training sessions.


Problem-Solving & Adaptability
:

  • Ability to analyze complex systems and propose scalable, long-term solutions.
  • Passion for learning new database technologies and improving existing processes.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable database solutions, ensuring high availability and performance.
  • Optimize and troubleshoot database performance issues, implementing tuning strategies as needed.
  • Develop and maintain stored procedures, queries, and database functions to support application functionality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align database solutions with product and business objectives.
  • Ensure data integrity and security, implementing best practices in compliance with organizational policies.
  • Stay current with emerging database technologies, proactively identifying enhancements for the platform.
  • Contribute to the automation of database processes, improving operational efficiency.
  • Document and enforce database standards and best practices within the engineering team.

 

Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in database development with a strong focus on Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL.
  • Proven track record in troubleshooting and optimizing database performance in production environments.
  • 4+ years of experience in software development with C#/.NET (preferred).
  • Background in enterprise SaaS platforms or large-scale distributed systems.
  • Experience working in agile, distributed teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
