The Trade Desk is looking for a Senior Accountant based in our Mumbai office as an India Country Specialist. The ideal candidate will possess strong knowledge of financial accounting, Indian compliance regulations, and tax requirements, while also being hands-on in resolving accounting operations issues. This role reports directly to the India Accounting Manager, based in Singapore, and requires close collaboration with internal teams, external consultants, and auditors.

What you’ll do

  • Perform month end close tasks including but not limited to, preparation of journal entries for cash activities, accruals, prepayments, intercompany transactions and other business transactions, account reconciliations and reporting under US GAAP and India GAAP.
  • Collect, compile, verify, and analyse the necessary information for preparing statutory and compliance reports, including financial statements, analytical reports, and supporting documentation for tax filings.
  • Coordinate with third party external service providers for statutory reporting and compliances, tax consultancy, audit, corporate governance, treasury and other finance-related matters.
  • Collaborate with accounting operations functions, including accounts payable, payroll and stock admin teams, to provide country-level support.
  • Participate in cross-functional projects that involve local implementation, as well as improvement initiatives that require collaboration and problem-solving at both the individual and team levels.
  • Lead or contribute to finance-related process and reporting enhancement initiatives, with the aim of promoting efficiency.
  • Build formal and informal networks across various functions and with third-party finance vendors to exchange ideas and expertise, formulating solutions to accounting and compliance issues.
  • Support ad-hoc requests and tasks, as required.

Who you are

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in India Generally Accepted Accounting Principles/Indian Accounting Standards; accounting, local tax and compliance regulations and knowledge of US GAAP.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance/accounting, Chartered Accountant preferred. Previous Big 4 audit experience is a plus.
  • Skilled Oracle or ERP system user with experience in working with technical/data driven tools.
  • Proven experience in applying innovative ideas to both new and recurring work processes.
  • Detail-oriented self-starter with a strong sense of ownership.
  • Strong execution and dedication to teamwork and collaboration across international regions and different time zones.
  • Ability to make sound judgments, manage multiple high-priority tasks, and demonstrate a willingness to learn.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to adapt to different communication styles across various settings and stakeholders, providing timely and helpful information to others throughout the organization.
