Who We Are

The Visual Media team at Wayfair oversees the production of thousands of images a month. These images help to inform and inspire customers that visit our site everyday. A key part of our production pipeline are the various quality checks we perform to maintain product accuracy and brand identity. The images we create today come from various pipelines from photography to photoreal 3D and AI. 

We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile 3D Artist with a specialized focus on lighting and materials to join our team. This role is dedicated to producing premium, branded product imagery that aligns with our creative direction and vision. You’ll be responsible for delivering photorealistic, on-brand images that effectively capture product aesthetics and elevate our visual standards.

Beyond traditional 3D work, this role offers an opportunity to expand into other media, with a forward-looking approach to integrating innovative tools and workflows. As we explore and implement generative AI and emerging digital techniques, you’ll play an integral part in adapting and applying these technologies to enhance our creative output.

 

What You’ll Do

  • Lighting & material work for rendering high-quality 3D scenes, ensuring high photorealism & cohesion.
  • Manage & Implement feedback collaborating with multiple external teams.
  • Collaborate closely with creatives to maintain brand standards and visual accuracy.
  • Research emerging 3D and AI-driven tools, evaluating their viability and potential impact on workflow efficiency and visual quality.
  • Participate in imagery critiques, providing and implementing feedback to refine quality, realism, and brand consistency.

 

What You’ll Need

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in 3D Design or Digital Media Entertainment.
  • 3-4 years of experience in a similar role with hands-on 3D lighting & modeling work.
  • Proficient in 3DS Max and V-Ray for lighting and rendering (Maya & other 3D DCC experience is a bonus).
  • Knowledge of principle of photography, composition, settings & framing.
  • Strong understanding of lighting principles & realistic material properties.
  • Experience with adobe products, photoshop, bridge & other image editing software's.
  • Interest in or experience with generative AI, including tools for creative experimentation.
  • Knowledge of video editing and compositing software (e.g., After Effects or similar) is a plus.

Portfolio

To be considered you must have  an online portfolio. Your work should showcase 3D lighting skills, with examples in various creative settings.
