Mechanical Design Engineer, Platforms, Google Cloud

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 1 year of experience designing mechanical components like plastic or metal parts, mechanical assemblies, printed circuit boards, or flexes.
• 1 year of experience using computer-aided design (CAD) tools like 3D MCAD, NX, Creo, or Solidworks.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8 years of experience in mechanical design, analysis and validation of server systems and products.
• Experience in mechanical product design and analysis using CAD/CAE tools.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering and design principles with specific expertise in the areas of design for medium-scale production, sheet metal and injection molding, material properties/science, DFM/DFA, dimensional tolerance analysis, structural and thermal analysis, heat transfer and fluid dynamics.

As a Mechanical Engineer you design and evaluate our data center systems, identifying product requirements and contributing to research and project planning. From the chip to chiller, you are responsible for designing and optimizing an architecture that will scale with Google's continued growth.

With your technical expertise, you lead and manage projects, develop product and process improvements, provide consultation to others and help facilitate training and development.

• Own and design entire product design life cycle including requirements gathering, concept generation, detailed design with analysis, verification testing, cross-functional reviews, and manufacturing release.
• Develop and execute designs for systems backed by thorough engineering analysis.
• Create test plans, perform testing, and validate designs to meet engineering requirements.
• Troubleshoot root cause, and resolve potential technical tests.
• Influence and shape future products by providing mechanical and product design engineering expertise into the technology roadmap with data-motivated decisions.
