About the team

The Disputes Foundations team is dedicated to empowering Stripe users and the Disputes product and integration teams by providing a robust and versatile platform designed to seamlessly integrate with a variety of networks and payment methods. Our primary aim is to enhance operational efficiency and elevate developer productivity by streamlining processes and offering intuitive tools. We focus on delivering precise and dependable information to users, ensuring transparency and informed decision-making at every step of the disputes resolution process. By building a solid and adaptable infrastructure, our team plays a pivotal role in simplifying complex dispute workflows, ultimately fostering a more efficient and harmonious financial ecosystem.

What you’ll do:

Responsibilities

  • Scope, design, build, and maintain services and large-scale systems that reliably and efficiently process disputes flows for Stripe users.
  • Apply a detail-oriented mindset to dissect information, analyze data, and detect patterns that lead to cost savings
  • Debug and solve critical production issues across services and multiple levels of the stack
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to build new features at large-scale, while improving internal engineering standards, tooling, and processes
  • Collaborate effectively in a distributed and hybrid team, maintaining open communication and strong connections with colleagues

Who you are

We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.

Minimum requirements

  • A strong technical background, including 2-5 years of professional software development experience
  • Familiarity with the full life cycle of software development, from design and implementation to testing and deployment.
  • Empathy, strong communication skills and effective communication with stakeholders
  • A learning mindset, regardless of level or experience
  • The ability to drive clear next steps when encountering ambiguous spaces without clear lines of ownership
  • High standards for code quality and a constructive attitude to help others raise the bar
  • An ability to think creatively and holistically about reducing risk in a complex environment

Preferred qualifications 

  • Experience with large-scale backend systems with focus on reliability
  • Experience with financial product companies and interest in financial products and markets.
