Distinguished Engineer, Google Cloud Business Platform

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related technical field or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of software engineering or related experience.
• Experience guiding and influencing a team of software engineers without direct reporting.
• Experience working with data, apis and metrics oriented products.
• Experience with the lead-to-cash business process.
• Experience in a technical lead role.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience building software/distributed systems at scale using PDLC.
• Ability to set/drive “big picture” strategy and provide detailed guidance.
• Excellent communication skills, and ability to influence without authority, be highly collaborative, and customer-focused.
• Innovative problem solver that can turn ambiguous problem spaces into clear solutions; comfort with new technology and thinking outside the box to develop and implement short and long-term creative solutions.
• Track record in balancing engineering priorities against timelines, urgency in driving execution, and entrepreneurial approach.

Google Cloud Business Platform (GCBP)’s primary objective is to help scale Google Cloud business. As we help every developer or enterprise make GCP a part of their digital transformation, we need to ensure that we provide infrastructure services and a trusted platform for key business processes. In order to do so, we have to ensure that the systems provide automation for the lead-to-cash flow.

As a Distinguished Engineer in GCBP, you will influence and guide different teams building the platform and systems to serve the business needs for lead-to-cash. You will define, develop and execute on strategy for scaling Google Cloud Business. You will work closely with counterparts across the GCBP, Sales, Marketing, Partners, Finance and Customer Success to balance competing needs across channels, products and business teams. You’ll develop practices and data-driven insights to ensure that Google Cloud scales. As the person responsible for scaling the Cloud Business, you will have measurable, real-world impact in an area of Cloud.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $323,000-$465,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. • Provide technical vision and strategy for the GCBP organization. Design and lead a multi-year technical roadmap, balancing short and long-term technology investments.
• Deliver high quality and impactful launches through close partnership with the rest of the Cloud Business teams.
• Build a collaborative work environment, helping others in the organization execute to their maximum potential, and actively develop and expand talent through effective mentoring and coaching.
• Partner closely with PM, PGM and other teams to create, drive and deliver an innovative, compelling experience to our customers. Identify and solve cross-functional and inter-team issues efficiently.
• Lead software development efforts by driving architecture selection, software design, execution, and operations to build out architectures that are resilient to change. Contribute to the broader Cloud Business vision at Google.
