Role Description: Horizontal Marketing Services is looking for an experienced Data Scientist II to help design and run experiments to measure and optimize our marketing efforts across different marketing channels and drive incremental performance. In this role, you will be responsible for high-impact projects aimed at measuring marketing effectiveness and optimizing the performance of our marketing spend. Projects may include (but not limited to) design, analysis and meta-analysis of customer-level experiments, deep dives into heterogeneous effects across different segments, design and analysis of non-randomized experiments for example at geo level, and evaluating and testing with external experimentation tools or experiment designs by advertising and or demand partners. The output of your work will be used to help inform the marketing strategy for the future of Booking.com. As a member of a horizontal Data Science and Analytics team, you will also work proactively with many stakeholders across different teams to set up measurement frameworks for various marketing activities to determine the success. Key Job Responsibilities and Duties: Own the design and delivery of entire Data Science solutions based on business requirements, from idea generation to implementation. Autonomously consume data, prepare it for data science use, and solve business problems through suitable statistical analysis and modeling methods. Leverage input from business stakeholders to determine the right technical solutions. Design and interpret quantitative experiments to guide key business decision making. Communicate complex analysis results clearly and begin to guide junior colleagues in stakeholder engagement. Embrace existing internal and external Data Science approaches, propose new ones, and expand technical competencies when a more efficient way presents itself. Incorporate scalability, reproducibility, and long-term orientation in their work while maximising Data Science for impact. Act as a force multiplier for junior peers through coaching, mentoring, and setting a good example. Contribute to the community by supporting projects aimed at enhancing other data professionals' effectiveness and participate in community-strengthening activities like recruitment. Collaborate with related crafts such as Data Engineering to ensure smooth project progress and influence business decisions within their specific area Qualifications & Skills: Strong working knowledge of Experimentation: A/B testing, geo-testing, power analysis, sample size determination, minimum detectable effect sizes, familiarity with biases in experimentation, meta-analysis etc. Strong working knowledge of descriptive and inferential statistics. Experience solving real problems using data mining techniques and with statistical rigor Excellent communication skills Strong skills in translating business problems into data problems Strong stakeholder management Strong coding and data visualization skills Strong skills in storytelling with data Strong knowledge of data management (engineering, data pipelines, workflows) Strong knowledge of the possibilities and limitations of different types of data analysis and/or data science modeling Benefits & Perks - Global Impact, Personal Relevance: Booking.com’s Total Rewards Philosophy is not only about compensation but also about benefits.
