About the role:
We are seeking a Microsoft 365 Engineer with a good understanding of SharePoint, Teams, and Entra. In this role, you will be responsible for executing and troubleshooting migration activities across Microsoft 365 environments, ensuring a seamless transition for users. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the security, integrity, and compliance of all migrated data. This role requires a deep understanding of Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Entra.
Key Responsibilities:
- Execute and Troubleshoot tenant-to-tenant migrations within Microsoft 365 environments, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, Teams Chats, and other related settings.
- Creating the dependent documentation for a migration including discovery, user mappings, and error logging.
- Manage migration tools and scripts to automate and streamline migration activities and data validation.
- Troubleshoot migration issues related to access, permissions, and data integrity.
- Collaborate with the Migration Team to ensure a successful migration, including constant and clear communication on task status and potential risks.
- Create End User documentation for customers to provide to end users as required.
- Maintain documentation of migration processes, configurations, and change management records.
- Provide post-migration support and training for users as needed.
- Continued learning and training on Microsoft 365 technologies.
Must-Have Skills:
- Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive - Experience working with Microsoft 365 as an end user with Outlook, OneDrive, and Teams to understand the constructs of what is being migrated.
- Active Directory and Entra - Basic understanding of identities within Active Directory/Entra and how that relates to the users being migrated.
- PowerShell Scripting (If this is difficult to find, I can relent in this, but it would be very ideal) - Ability to develop and modify PowerShell scripts for automating migration tasks, user account management, and permissions.
- Troubleshooting and Issue Resolution - Strong analytical skills with a proactive approach to identify and resolve migration-related issues and minimize end-user impact.
- Microsoft Office Expert - Able to compare and merge Excel spreadsheets utilizing functions like vlookup and proficient with Microsoft Word to create documentation as required.
- Communication and Collaboration - Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with cross-functional teams, provide updates to stakeholders, and document procedures.
Nice-to-Have Skills:
- Microsoft 365 Administration - Experience being the administrator of a Microsoft 365 Tenant including managing things like retention policies, licensing management, and tenant settings.
- On-Premises Administrator Experience - Experience managing on-premises Active Directory environment including on-prem mailboxes.
- Microsoft 365 Tenant-to-Tenant Migration Experience - Hands-on experience with tenant-to-tenant migrations, including detailed knowledge of migration planning, execution, and troubleshooting.
- Migration Tools - Proficiency with AvePoint Fly, but even if there is other third-party migration tool experience, that is a plus.
- Knowledge of Security and Compliance Policies - Familiarity with Microsoft Information Protection, DLP, and conditional access policies, especially in migration contexts.
- Experience with Hybrid Environments - Understanding and experience with hybrid environments, directory synchronization, and identity management.
- User and Change Management Experience - Experience in managing end-user expectations, providing training, and change management in the context of a major migration.
- Networking Fundamentals - Basic understanding of networking principles, DNS, and firewall rules, particularly in relation to Microsoft 365 connectivity and performance.
Ideal Certifications:
- Microsoft 365 Certified: Enterprise Administrator Expert – This certification covers the skills needed to evaluate, plan, migrate, deploy, and manage Microsoft 365 services.
- Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals – Essential for understanding security, compliance, and identity management in Microsoft 365 environments.
- Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate – Provides a solid understanding of identity and access management, essential for managing users during migration.
