Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 3 years of experience in one or more object oriented programming languages (Java, C++, or Python, etc.).
  • 3 years of experience designing data models, data warehouses, and using SQL and NoSQL database management systems along with data processing using traditional and distributed systems (e.g., Hadoop, Spark, Dataflow, Airflow).

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering or Applied Science, or a related field.
  • 5 years of experience in a customer-facing role.
  • 5 years of experience managing projects and working with analytics, software coding, or customer-side web technologies.
  • 3 years of experience writing and maintaining ETLs which operate on a variety of structured and unstructured sources.
  • 3 years of experience in distributed data processing and Unix or GNU/Linux systems.
  • Working knowledge of machine learning, including data preparation, model selection, performance evaluation, and parameter tuning.

As a Revenue Systems Data Engineer within the Ads & YouTube Controllership, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing financial processes and reporting for Google's key product area. You will be instrumental in understanding our product business generation, billing, and ERP systems to advise on and implement process automation, directly supporting critical accounting and controllership activities. In this role, you will collaborate closely with accountants and various engineering teams, translating complex business requirements into robust technical solutions. Your expertise will bridge the gap between business needs and engineering execution, driving enhancements in the efficiency and accuracy of financial reporting. As a multi-domain expert, you will develop high-impact data solutions, ensuring the integrity and compliance of our financial data.

  • Design, develop and support data pipelines, warehouses and reporting systems to solve business operations, users and product problems.
  • Create Extract, Transform, and Load (ETLs) and reporting systems for new data using a variety of traditional as well as large-scale distributed data systems.
  • Collaborate and influence stakeholders and support engineers to ensure our data infrastructure meets constantly evolving requirements.
  • Write and review technical documents, including design, development, and revision documents.
  • Collaborate with Finance, Product, and Engineering teams to identify, scope, design, test, and implement data solutions for accounting and financial reporting utilizing diverse systems and technologies.
