About the team
The Technology Risk and Controls team ensures compliance, stability and reliability of Stripe’s core infrastructure and technology against audit and regulatory needs. The team builds and maintains a controls library resilient with changing tech stack and risk landscape and performs oversight and monitoring of technology posture and control health.
What you’ll do
You will join one of the teams behind infrastructure platforms used by engineering, security, and business partners at Stripe. You will oversee the development of solutions that may be “from scratch”, built on top of in-house platforms, or leveraging 3rd party solutions. We expect that working along the team’s technical leaders, you will be able to ensure that your team processes to best integrate into Stripe’s technology organization. We are a highly effective team, consistently delivering high-impact results while genuinely caring for each other.
Responsibilities
- Work with other Stripe leaders to design and lead the development of processes and controls that best fulfill Stripe’s compliance and risk obligations.
- Conduct regular risk assessments in line with common risk frameworks such as NIST or ISO.
- Partner with engineering teams to plan and implement initiatives that reduce technology risks and address the needs of any new or evolving compliance requirements.
- Define a vision for technology risk management, and implement it through a series of initiatives you lead or partner on within your team.
- Contribute to engineering-wide and program management initiatives as a member of Stripe’s engineering and program management team.
Who you are

Minimum requirements
- 1+ years of people management experience or equivalent experience
- 8+ years of experience in technology process management
- Hands-on experience building risk and compliance or infrastructure programs for internal or external customers.
- 8+ years of experience working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders
- The ability to thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility
- Clear and persuasive writing and in-person communication
Preferred qualifications (if applicable)
- Experience in technology risk and compliance management
- Empathetic to customer needs, but visionary enough to not just deliver a faster horse
- Comfortable planning in quarters, and can set a vision for several years
- Excited about collaborating with teammates across Stripe’s organization, to provide a wonderful user experience for key compliance workflows
- Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people, genuinely caring for each other and contributing to high level of psychological safety for all team members and partners
- Comfortable working with geographically distributed teams
- Problem-solving skills, determination, and a growth mindset
