We’re seeking a talented Tax Information Reporting Analyst who enjoys tackling complex challenges alongside cross-functional teams to develop and implement effective solutions that fulfill Stripe's tax requirements.
You Will:
- Review and validate tax forms (W-8, W-9), FATCA, and CRS certificates submitted by users, addressing inquiries regarding these documents.
- Accurately and timely file Forms 1099, Forms 1042-S, and FATCA/CRS reports with relevant tax authorities.
- Conduct regular assessments of US information reporting and withholding processes in compliance with IRC Chapters 3, 4, and 61, as well as state tax reporting, ensuring audit readiness for cross-functional teams like Accounts Payable.
- Document internal processes around Stripe’s tax information reporting and withholding obligations and prepare understandable communications for our users.
- Collaborate effectively with Product, Tax Operations, Engineering, and Sales to implement tax requirements and develop tax products, all while having a strong moral compass and integrity.
- Assist team with operational processes and identify opportunities to enhance operational efficiency.
We are looking for someone with:
- 4-6+ years of experience in tax information reporting and withholding, either at an accounting or law firm, in-house within the financial services industry, or a combination of both.
- Familiarity with the onboarding and year-end reporting processes for tax identity information collection.
- Experience reviewing W-9 and W-8 forms, along with FATCA and CRS self-certifications, and reporting to tax authorities.
- Strong time-management and project-management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Capacity to prioritize tasks in a fast changing and dynamic environment.
- A sense of empathy, humility, and a touch of humor.
Nice to haves:
- Advanced degree or professional certification (CPA, JD, or equivalent, Masters in Tax, or LLM) in tax or law.
- Experience in a high-growth, rapidly evolving environment.
- Background in technology, payments, or financial services.
