Job Description

Netflix is one of the world's leading entertainment services, with 283 million paid memberships in over 190 countries enjoying TV series, films and games across a wide variety of genres and languages. Members can play, pause and resume watching as much as they want, anytime, anywhere, and can change their plans at any time.

The Client and Partner Technologies (CPT) organization is charted with enabling brilliant Netflix experiences on partner devices and building foundational client systems and tools. Partner Enablements Apps group within CPT is looking for a software engineering manager to lead our Ecosystem Platform and Reliability team.

Role

We are seeking an experienced Software Engineering Manager to lead our Partner Enablement Applications engineering team. This role involves establishing long-term technical strategy, driving the development and evolution of the core services to power our suite of web applications to scale partner management, device lifecycle management and partner payment channels, collectively known as Enablement Apps. The team is also responsible for the reliability and support for Enablement Apps, which includes first tier support for internal and external partners.

The ideal candidate will be an inspiring leader, an effective communicator, dedicated to fostering an environment of continuous improvement and good development practices, and enjoys working in the office a few days per week (some of the team and close partners are local and work in person a few days per week).

Team

The team is based in Warsaw, Poland and will partner with our globally distributed teams (California, Brazil, Netherlands, and Taiwan). The team develops the applications that enable our operator (ISPs, telco, TV, mobile carriers) and device partners (consumer electronics manufacturers, SoC, ODMs) to integrate the Netflix app on smart TVs and set top boxes. We provide a unified approach for developing and delivering cloud and data systems leveraged by application teams and other stakeholders.

The core service offering is a gateway for partners to execute the engineering and business interactions with Netflix. It also allows Netflix employees to manage hundreds of millions of devices and related partnership financial operations.

Responsibilities:

  • Thoughtful leadership with experience in hiring, coaching, and retaining strong engineering talent with various needs for personal and professional growth.

  • Lead a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and career development support.

  • Foster a culture of continuous learning and development best practices within the team.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to identify, design, and implement scalable and performant solutions for our evolving applications.

  • Coordinate and prioritize migration and deprecation of legacy services.

  • Champion data quality and engineering excellence.

  • Establish a strong and mature foundation for the core services for all Enablement Apps including but not limited to:

    • Testing - unit/automated testing to minimize downtime

    • Monitoring & alerting

    • Scalable on-call support (i.e. balanced enough for the team to not always feel like they’re on-call and we have the right level of support)

  • Stay current with the newest trends, tools, and technologies in the field, assessing their relevance to our ecosystem.

Requirements:

  • Solid experience in software development.

  • At least 3 years of experience in a leadership or management role within a software / full stack engineering team.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to navigate cross-functional team dynamics.

  • Comfortable working across multiple time zones in the US, Asia, and Europe when communicating with global distributed team members.

  • Familiarity with systems such as Jenkins, Github actions, Gradle, Spinnaker etc. is a plus.

  • Diversity & Inclusion: Commitment to fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment.

Inclusion is a Netflix value and we strive to host a meaningful interview experience for all candidates. If you want an accommodation/adjustment for a disability or any other reason during the hiring process, please send a request to your recruiting partner.

We are an equal-opportunity employer and celebrate diversity, recognizing that diversity builds stronger teams. We approach diversity and inclusion seriously and thoughtfully. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, ancestry, national origin, caste, sex, sexual orientation, gender, gender identity or expression, age, disability, medical condition, pregnancy, genetic makeup, marital status, or military service.
