Accelerate your career by joining Okta, the leading provider of identity for the enterprise, as a member of our commercial legal team as Corporate Counsel, Strategic Sourcing. To be successful in this role, you will need to partner closely with all members of the Strategic Sourcing organization. You will be expected to build relationships with internal business partners working with cross-functional groups to support negotiations and implement risk mitigation measures with suppliers.

You will report to the Senior Manager, Corporate Commercial Counsel. This is a remote role based in Ireland. What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Draft, advise and negotiate all forms of vendor agreements including services, technology, consulting, supply, SOWs, and NDAs, including complex privacy and security issues. 
  • Serve as an escalation point for sourcing contract management team on complex legal issues
  • In partnership with Strategic Sourcing contract management team, provide direct support to Strategic Sourcing managers and leadership, both domestically and internationally, including Sourcing operations to help implement a scalable legal support structure and processes which map to Sourcing leadership’s strategic growth plans 
  • Drive and contribute to other exciting and interesting legal projects as needed
  • Creation and updating of global Sourcing agreements and all related templates, as required 
  • Partner with security, technology operations, and other stakeholder teams to ensure agreements are consistent with internal Okta policies and processes 
  • Assist go-to-market sales teams, as needed, for commercial support 
  • Work directly with key business stakeholders as a strategic adviser and tactical influencer to provide business-minded legal advice and guidance on a broad range of complex legal, business, and strategic issues as they arise 
  • Negotiate and finalize engagement agreements, NDAs, supplier contracts, consulting agreements, venue agreements, software/tools licenses, employment-related agreements, etc.
  • Review and negotiate contract changes requested by internal teams and suppliers to ensure that contracting activities are in full compliance with legal and other regulatory requirements
  • Build critical relationships with both legal colleagues and key stakeholders to effectively provide legal and strategic advice to assist the business to meet its objectives
  • Liaise with sourcing as part of diligence review and oversight for new (and existing) third-party vendor services including document coordination and analysis
  • Perform other related duties as assigned

 

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • 5+ years post qualification experience.
  • 3+ years in-house experience, negotiating, reviewing, and drafting Strategic Sourcing related contracts across various categories. Experience with enterprise-level go-to-market cloud computing agreements, is a plus
  • Strong academic background and bar admission or common law qualification
  • Must have experience with negotiating contracts with suppliers
  • Strong influencing and leadership skills, including decisiveness on both legal and business issues with willingness to partner with other stakeholders  
  • Ability to understand, evaluate and break down nuanced & complex business issues and contracting approaches to present these to others in a clear and concise manner 
  • Highly responsive and service-oriented attitude 
  • Ability to support US Time zones, as needed, for commercial issues
  • Business-minded, can-do spirit with the experience to find a way through tough negotiations  
  • Ability to work autonomously and organize, prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced, rewarding work environment   
  • Ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with a variety of internal clients. 
  • Sound and practical business judgment  
  • Working knowledge of intellectual property, security, GDPR, and other privacy matters (preferably in-house experience with a high growth SaaS company)
  • Must have strong computer skills and knowledge of common programs such as G Suite, MS Excel, MS Office, MS Word. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Familiarity with Workday Strategic Sourcing is a plus
