Job Description

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
  • 5 years of experience with data structures/algorithms and software development in NodeJS.
  • 5 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
  • Experience working on Software Development Kits (SDKs) and Application Programming Interface API development.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Experience working on developer-facing products.
  • Experience working with multiple programming languages such as Go, Python and their ecosystems.
  • Experience in maintaining or contributing to open source projects.

Cloud Software Development Kit (SDK) is responsible for client libraries for Google Cloud Platform (GCP) Application Programming Interface (APIs) in eight programming languages. We use code generation to build these libraries based on API definitions. The Core Client Libraries team is responsible for the code generators and other core infrastructure in the libraries, as well as building and releasing these autogenerated libraries. The libraries are the programmatic front door to GCP, responsible for 90% of API traffic to GCP API backends. We support 100 plus partner teams across GCP, as well as supporting Vertical SDK teams with more complex client libraries that are built on an auto-generated core.Google Cloud accelerates every organization’s ability to digitally transform its business and industry. The US base salary range for this full-time position is $161,000-$239,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.   • Build and generate our client libraries to support developers in the Node, Go, or Python developer ecosystems.
  • Participate in, or lead design reviews with peers and stakeholders to decide amongst available technologies.
  • Review code developed by other developers and provide feedback to ensure best practices (e.g., style guidelines, checking code in, accuracy, testability, and efficiency).
  • Contribute to existing documentation or educational content and adapt content based on product/program updates and user feedback.
  • Triage product or system issues and debug/track/resolve by analyzing the sources of issues and the impact on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
