The Checkout North America Team:

The Checkout NA team is dedicated to optimizing the checkout experience for merchants by developing a suite of intelligent and data-driven products. Our work spans multiple areas, including dashboards that provide detailed insights into checkout performance, conversion rates, costs, and fraud risks, as well as an experimentation engine that enables A/B testing to drive data-backed improvements.

We leverage machine learning to dynamically tailor the checkout flow, ensuring a seamless and personalized experience for shoppers. Additionally, we provide advanced customization options that empower merchants to adapt their checkout processes to meet specific business needs and shopper preferences.

By combining data, experimentation, and AI-driven decision-making, we help merchants create high-performing checkout experiences that maximize efficiency and conversion.

What you’ll do

• Work on complex technical projects from requirements analysis through design, implementation, testing and launch into production.
• Identify and improve parts of the platform to make it more robust and scalable.
• Bring your own point of view on best engineering practices. 
• Your code will be used at scale and you are expected to think in that mindset when building features.
• We launch fast and iterate often. Concretely, this means that within your first few weeks, you will bring live functionalities that impact many merchants and shoppers. 
• Collaborate across teams and time zones to get projects over the finish line.

Who you are

• You have at least 6 years of professional experience as an engineer 
• You have great communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts in front of different stakeholders
• Familiar with complex large-scale distributed systems
• You are flexible, a team player, someone with an eye for detail

Required technical qualifications: 

• Demonstrated knowledge of building Java-based web services (RESTful, SOAP) 
• Experienced in designing performant database models in PostgreSQL or other relational databases

This role is based out of our Chicago office. We have a hybrid workplace and value in-person collaboration; this role does not offer relocation assistance or remote-only.
