Software Engineer (m/f/x)

The role

Each year, HelloFresh expands into new markets and launches new brands, all of which rely on our technology infrastructure to keep operations running smoothly. SCM is at the heart of HelloFresh, serving as the foundation for everything we do. Every HelloFresh process depends on SCM Tech to function efficiently. We oversee production planning and steering, optimize labor, track box labeling and physical production, while we maintain close collaboration with various teams across the company, from Finance to Operations. Our challenge is to enhance efficiency and minimize waste throughout the supply chain. Our vision is to build the world's leading, scalable, and fully integrated food supply chain management platform.

Our Backend Engineers assume development and operational responsibility for the HelloFresh fulfilment platform, a global operation system, that serves millions globally to deliver the best experience for our customers and internal users.

What you’ll do

• Take full ownership of the architecture, design, development, deployment, and operations of the services you build. Collaborate closely with your team using DevOps practices, pair programming, and Test-Driven Development, while fostering a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous learning.
• Be active, solution-oriented member of autonomous, cross-functional agile teams collaborating with Product Owners, Front-end Engineers, Designers, and Business Intelligence teams
• Having an in-depth understanding of HelloFresh’s core product and architecture, and act as ambassador for software solutions offering support and mentorship to colleagues
• Work with state-of-the-art technologies like Kafka, RabbitMQ, Flink, Kubernetes, Istio, and more

What you’ll bring

• Solid experience in developing and maintaining backend services and architectures using at least one of the following: Kotlin or Java.
• Experience working with Docker and container orchestration technologies such as Kubernetes
• As well as experience in CI/CD methods and practices
• Practical experience of TDD, BDD, DDD and distributed architectural patterns
• Background working with event-driven architectures using RabbitMQ and/or Kafka
• You thrive in the opportunity to collaborate with team members, while also sharing practical knowledge and trends.

Interacting with front-end developers, designers, product managers and our teams around the world is very much part of our day-to-day, so communication skills are vital. We are looking for strong problem-solvers who can apply their engineering skills to a wide range of platforms and environments, while also acting as an ambassador to coach team members and stakeholders.
