FP&A Intern

BigCommerce, named a 2024 "Best Place to Work" in Austin, is recruiting a FP&A intern. As part of this program, you will be integrated into our Financial Planning and Analysis team for hands-on experience driving strategic financial initiatives and contributing to data-driven decision-making processes. Your mentor will collaborate with you to enhance processes around forecasting, budgeting, or financial analysis, unlocking insights that drive value and efficiency across the organization.

You will build skills in financial modeling, data analysis, and operational decision support with a focus on improving the scalability and precision of financial planning. Additionally, you will strengthen your communication and presentation skills by effectively conveying financial insights to stakeholders in various functions.

What You’ll Do

• Partner closely with senior members of the FP&A team to understand key financial challenges and opportunities.
• Develop, deliver, and communicate financial insights and recommendations in a clear and concise manner to influence strategic decisions.
• Assist in the preparation and analysis of budgets, forecasts, and monthly/quarterly performance reports.
• Conduct financial modeling and scenario analyses to evaluate potential outcomes and support decision-making processes.
• Bring fresh ideas to improve financial processes, reporting automation, and data visualization techniques.
• Document key learnings and best practices to enhance FP&A tools and methodologies for future hires and interns.

Who You Are

• Enrolled in an undergraduate program, preferably in a business or quantitative field like Finance, Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Business Administration, or a related discipline.
• Proficient in Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides) and familiar with Excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc.); experience with financial modeling tools or ERP systems is a plus.
• Passionate about data and finance, with the ability to use insights to drive decisions.
• A team player who enjoys problem-solving, learning, and contributing in a collaborative environment.
• Demonstrates strong time management, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and data presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional stakeholders.
• Available for a minimum of 20 hours per week
