Who you are:

We are always looking for amazing talent who can contribute to our growth and deliver results! Geotab is seeking Senior Manufacturing Engineering who will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the manufacturing line managed by our contract manufacturer (CMs). If you love technology, and are keen to join an industry leader — we would love to hear from you!

What you'll do:

As Senior Manufacturing Engineering your role encompasses both process engineering and quality engineering responsibilities, ensuring that production goals related to capacity, throughput and quality are successfully met. You will work collaboratively with our CM and internal teams to drive improvements, approve changes and lead root cause analysis efforts to maintain and enhance production performance.

How you'll make an impact

  • Provide total oversight of more advanced and challenging global contract manufacturing production lines, ensuring that operations meet or exceed established goals for throughput and quality.
  • Review and approve any proposed changes that may impact the production line, including process modifications, equipment updates, and material changes. Ensure changes are thoroughly evaluated and documented before implementation.
  • Analyze and optimize production processes to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and increase yield while maintaining product quality. Collaborate with contract manufacturers to implement Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Lead root cause analysis and troubleshooting of production issues. Implement corrective actions and preventative measures in collaboration with contract manufacturers and internal stakeholders.
  • Maintain close, daily communication with the contract manufacturing team to monitor production status, address challenges, and align on continuous improvement opportunities. Serve as the primary liaison between internal teams and the factory team at the CM.
  • Work closely with the design, R&D and operations teams to ensure smooth transition of new products from development to full-scale production, ensuring contract manufacturers are ready for production ramp-up.
  • Evaluate and manage relationships with suppliers and ensure raw materials meet required specifications for quality and performance. Create and maintain documentation related to manufacturing processes, including process flow diagrams, standard operating procedures and work instructions. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and ISO standards.
  • Analyze manufacturing costs and work with contract manufacturers to identify opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality or performance.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as R&D, quality, supply chain, and procurement to resolve production issues, improve product quality and align on project timelines and goals.
  • Analyze the failure analysis of field returns and report on trending issues and field failure rates.

What you'll bring to the role

  • 5-8 years of manufacturing engineering experience, with at least 3 years working directly with the contract manufacturers.
  • 5-8 years experience with production process optimization, troubleshooting and cost management.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, including DFM, PFMEA, test plans and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience working with contract manufacturers, preferably in a high-volume production environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of surface mount electronics principles and IPC standards.
  • Good understanding of plastic injection molding and harness manufacturing practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
  • Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence others.
  • Proficient in statistical analysis tools.
  • Ability to travel internationally.
If you got this far, we hope you're feeling excited about this role! Even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement, we still encourage you to apply.
